any guy fool enough...

to subject himself to such manipulative games on behalf of some broad is masochist and a fool.

It's a well done film, but the story is irksome.

There were some spectacular sets and costumes. It was especially interesting to see so many Empire style clothes. One sees a lot of other styles but very little in the Empire style. Especially the red satin gown worn to one of the balls.

It was a noisy set. Everyone's footfalls on those wooden floors made a lot of racket. Also well as when they were puttering around in the rooms they all managed to clamber about noisily.

The guy was a klutz. He thumped around. The carriages echoed thunderously. It was auditorily irritating to hear.

I found the guy to be exasperating in his obsessive interest in this stupid bxtch. Finally he kidnaps her. She gets all shaken. I think he should have ripped her beautiful Empire gowns right off her bare butt and had his way with her mercilessly. Screw her until she screams like a banshee! Give her something significant to ponder in the future!

He was clomping around because he had a wooden leg, apparently lost it in the wars.
