I apologize for the long-winded response, but my personal favorite werewolf movies are An American Werewolf in London and The Howling. Other good ones include Dog Soldiers, Silver Bullet, Teen Wolf is always fun, and Cursed isn't the best movie, but it has Rick Baker's work in it, which is enough to satisfy me. As for shows, Being Human is great, both the US and UK versions are worth watching. Also Teen Wolf was good, but I personally got bored with it after several seasons. And definitely check out Werewolf, a show from 1987, which also features Rick Baker's work. Might have to search the Internet for a bootleg copy or YouTube, but there have been copyright issues with all the episodes on there recently. Also Buffy the Vampire Slayer is worth watching, although werewolves don't make as much of an appearance. I'm sure I'm missing a few, but someone else might point out some others for ya.

hey mate no worries thanks for the reply. in the mean time I also did my search and many fans suggested the movies u suggested too plus a few like the 1956 werewolf film the 1979 wolfman version and the 1973 werewolf in Washington plus the 1997 I think werewolf in paris......LOL

Teenwolf with Michael fox is one of my favorites of all time. I own the dvd and the vinyl soundtrack which have great tunes like that big bad wolf tune from the wolf sisters and the amy Holland hit "shooting for the moon".

unfortunately the sequel with Jason bateman was bad and i'm also looking to watch the new teenwolf series. season 6 will be the last season of that show.

yeah....werewolf 1987 series I watched when I was 18 back then and now all the episodes are available at youtube.

here are a few more u may missed.

THE NIGHT OF THE WEREWOLF 1981 // GOTHIC HORROR MUST SEE

BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLFS 2001 // GREAT FRENCH MEDIEVAL FLICK

GINGER SNAPS TRILOGY

About the howling franchise (there are 8 films) I heard only part 1 and 4 are worth and the others are either bad or indeferent.

I will try the being human series u mentioned too.

let's hope we get more suggestions from other fans.

thanks

There’s a 1974 made-for-TV movie called Scream of the Werewolf that scared me as a kid. Also look for the werewolf episode on the TV series Kolchak: The Night Stalker.

LOL, the stuff that scares us as kid is so funny.
I remember as a kid being glued to the TV and being scared to death as I watched the original Werewolf with Lon Chaney. It's more than laughable today, but it scared the be-jesus out of me
at the time. Same with Frankenstein and the Mummy too. For some reason Dracula never seemed realistic. I wonder what it is that allows people to get so scared over stuff they ought to know is impossible and foolish?

Aside from some of the ones already mentioned on this thread, here are several werewolf movies worth checking out:

- Howling V: The Rebirth (1989). Although low-budget, this is a cool werewolf whodunit a la Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" set in an actual Hungarian castle. Elizabeth Shé (Marylou) has an exceptional scene and there's a superb Gothic score. But gorehounds who want to see loads of bloody action should pass. It's reminiscent of the underrated "Devil's Nightmare" aka "The Devil Walks at Midnight" (1971), albeit not as good.
- Howling VI: The Freaks (1991) features a good story about a drifter werewolf named Ian, a traveling carnival and a vampire. The werewolf may look like a member of Twisted Sister, but the canine legs are notable. Elizabeth is innocent to the ways of the world but she instinctively senses goodness in Ian, as does the "alligator boy." Harker, by contrast, possesses a sinister edge despite his great charisma. Speaking of which, Bruce Payne is outstanding here.
- Even Howling IV: The Original Nightmare (1988) is worth checking out for the slow-build mystery, the cast, the full moon ambiance and the remote desert location (shot in South Africa), plus the teaming-up of the two women (the writer and her assistant sleuth); unfortunately, the ending is rushed & awkward and nigh ruins the movie.
- Big Bad Wolf (2006) easily ranks with the best werewolves movies wherein the creature is thoroughly evil. It's gorey and sometimes crude, but effective with some warmth underneath.
- Never Cry Werewolf (2008) rips off the plot of "Night Fright" but is quite good.
- Wolves (2014) is reminiscent of the Marvel comic book Werewolf by Night (even the werewolves resemble Don Perlin's versions a little). It has good choices for the main cast, enough gore, some decent action, beautiful women, notable songs, a cameo by Lemmy (sort of) and exquisite Ontario locations with great nighttime sylvan ambiance.
