does anyone else think that there's a stem-cell research statement being made here? the doctor is using dead people's organs to help out the people of the town, but its made out to look so evil. Maybe I missed something, but doesn't it seem like that?

Interesting take. I think it was more based on the urban legend of organ harvesting (well, it's mostly an urban legend), but kudos to you for digging deeper.
