When did Bunt become such a dunce?

In the first movie he seemed like the only part of the Wallace family to have his head right. Now, in Ashes to Ashes, he seems like he's retarded, or a little *****. In the original he was a brave ****er.

Maybe what happened in the first movie effected him?

**Spoilers**

After he saw what P-head was doing, he tried to warn/help the victims and Pumpkinhead came right face-to-face with him, dragging him around for a while. If you remember, most people that came into contact with him were supposed to go totally insane.

He also smoked a lot of meth, apparently.

I realize this is an old post but oh well here it goes. You wrote.....

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything and I'm sorry if I come off as such but this is completely false and I'll list the reasons why.

1. No one's driven insane in the first movie. Bunt, Tracy and Chris all survive and there is no indication that they had gone insane, I mean it's not like they're hysterical by the end or anything.

2. We only ever see people go crazy after a Pumpkinhead encounter in the movie Pumpkinhead 2 Blood Wings, and even then it only happen twice (The 2 Women) it also seems to happen immediately. All the other characters, the sheriff, his daughter a nurse and a bunch of the judges friends seem to be fine afterwords. Now the judges friends are iffy because we only see them up until Pumpkinheads death. The Sheriff and his daughter however are seen the next morning and they're fine.

3. Pumpkinhead Ashes to Ashes is a direct sequel to the first movie and completely ignores the events that take place in Pumpkinhead 2 therefor we can only go by what we see in Pumpkinhead and PH Ashes to ashes. Simply put the rules of Pumpkinhead 2 do not apply to this movie.

Now I'll agree that going through what Bunt did in the first movie would probably leave him a bit damaged and more than likely with PTSD but I highly doubt he would have been driven to full mental retardation.

The real reason for Bunts drastic character change is due to bad writing by both Barbara Werner and Jake West. Bunt was a great character in the first movie and they ruined that, which is one of a few reasons why I'll never consider Ashes to ashes to be canon. The first Pumpkinhead is a masterpiece IMO and this laughably bad abomination of a movie undermines all the hard work Stan Winston(RIP) and company put into their original film.

i agree there was no reason for it but there also was no reason for that character to even be in this film the thing about pupkinkhead as a franchise is there really is no need to bring characters back i do think this film is still cannon to the franchise although its no were near the level of the first i dont think the first is a masterpiece though its a great horror film some things that hurt the first is the teens are slightly underdeveloped an some of the teens acting is a little cheese an weak in spots lance makes the first movie which is why they chose to focus more on him then the teens most of the teens were still good actors or descent but the chick with the cross in the original was bad

Bunt was definitely not retarded in the first film. He was actually a really great character.

In this pos, they did the character a huge disservice by making him retarded or mentally challenged.

You know how Hollywood is. All people from rural areas who have low income are complete redneck idiots who couldn't even tie their own shoes correctly in the movies.
