yea, it's a bit old school but hardly a flop. The term flop refers to a movie losing money, and well... this one didn't cost any. But you are right in that it could've been more successful (atleast to some degree) by using more recent characters. The younger crowd is probably less put off by lower budgets and shoddy acting (atleast I know I was) and wouldn't hinder it's popularity as much. Another thought would be that the newer game characters are already rendered in 3d and may not have the same appeal as live action ryu. In other words, master cheif, COD and God of War, Gears of war are all based on somewhat realistic character models. It's no stretch of the imagination to imagine these people in a real world setting, but the puzzles and goofieness of classic games makes their transition to a live setting somewhat more of an excercise in imagineering. Plus spartan suits are friggen expensive and if they were off it'd take away from their recognition. Paperboy is easy, pre-pubesent kid in yellow cap/ blue shirt (I think) chukin papers from a basket on handle bars. I probably over thought that.
