He's got to stop making so many crappy movies. He needs a more selective agent. This script was terrible. The writer must have decided to make "Liar, Liar", but change the twist a little & make sure there isn't a single laugh in the whole movie. The only good part was the little girl, I'm sure we'll see more of her.

It was cute. It was silly. And there was definitely father/daughter chemistry between Murphy and the little girl.

There was good chemistry between Murphy and the girl, and the show was heartwarming and "feel good" to say the least. But I thought that Meet Dave was a lot funnier. Still the father/daughter dynamic felt real enough to me. Overall I enjoyed the movie.

Eddie is a bit hit and miss for me. I'm not sure why he takes on so many projects...he must really enjoy the work because I doubt that money alone would be enough incentive for him to put out 3 or 4 movies a year. I'm sure he's got plenty of cash in the bank. So I'm not entirely sure why he seems to not scrutinize the scripts he gets more thoroughly but overall he has more hits than misses and this one was decent enough.

This movie pulled off the overworked divorced parent thing more realistically than Liar Liar, but Liar Liar was a lot funnier. So it works for a heartwarming family flick and doesn't work so well for a pure comedy.

As of now $22,000,000 worldwide, but the budjet was $50,000,000. It just not that good, 4 out of 10.

How do you even manage to spend that much money on a film like this? Don't get me wrong, I really liked it, but I watched it just waiting for some sort of flip into the imaginary world but they didn't do it, they kept it focused on the father/daughter aspect of it all being in their heads. If there had been some spectacular fantasy land SFX they could have blown a few million but other than that.... fifty million? Sounds like the sort of creative accounting Hollywood has been accused of to avoid paying people.

reply

My bet would be that just less than half of that - if not more - went on Eddie's salary alone!
