i don't think she's too young to play his mother, she used to be in romance type movies with colin's father (tom hanks) so i think she's actually like, perfect to be his mother.

shareI didn't think that Meg was not old enough to play Colin's mother. I just couldn't figure out why Colin would be in this film. From the movies that I have seen Colin in he would be in small independent films that are worth watching, but somehow does not appeal to the masses. The only thing this movie has in common is that it won't appeal to the masses.
shareI would imagine that perhaps he is doing Ryan a favor, or perhaps he just wants to work w/ her. It's not hard to think that they have some sort of a relationship given her history w/ his father, perhaps she even babysat 'lil Colin a couple of times in the past.

That´s right a few hours ago, I´ve watched here in Brazil on Saturday Noon Feature In while of movie,Marty Durand (Meg Ryan) said about gave birth at her 17´aged character at line she told about old and harmful health lifestyle, as said which had weight over 152 lbs, abusing of fried and fatty food, and told about she went too huge smoker.

the amazing thing is that so many Meg Ryan´s movies. I watched in the mid-80s she played little girls, or teenagers, 25 years later, plays some moms elderly. I love and worship this peculiarity of Meg Ryan. my admiration and crush for her increases with each year goes by.
Meg Ryan, she is the one actress in the world to making us feel sheer motherhood shades in our hearts.

share-to see a mother/son played by actors of the appropriate ages. I'm not naming names, but I get so tired of fifty-something actresses portraying the mother of toddlers who should be their grandchildren. It's almost as bad as sixtyish actors playing young family men with a barely 30 looking wife and young kids. If they would at least make their advanced years a plot point, it might make sense.
