This is gonna be awesome.
Can't wait. As a thrasher, and a teenager.. it'll be really cool to see how the Bay Area and Teutonic thrash scenes started, especially due to the fact that I wasn't alive during the said time period.
I'm totally stoked. Is Tom G. Warrior going to be interviewed?

reply

Thanks so much for the support.
We interviewed a ton of thrash fans, thrash bands and thrash inspired bands including the guys from Sodom, Kreator and Destruction for Get Thrashed. But for various reasons, timing and location being the key - we were not able to interview Celtic Frost. (that does not mean that we dont touch on them in GT)

I doubt that Phil Anselmo will have anything interesting to say. Just listen to the guy, he really sounds like he's going to fall asleep any second. That dude is narcoleptic and he actually makes you narcoleptic aswell.

reply

Yeah, I saw him on Mehind the Music and I thought he was going to pass out.

Yes! :D I've been waiting for this one!! Thrash metal is my favourite genre, and as OperationIvy, I wasn't alive then either (born 1987) and a big fan of both the teutonic and the bay area scene. KREATOR!

Will watch and buy this movie as soon as I get the chance!
About time this movie was added to imdb, as far as I remember - this wasn't here a couple of months ago :)

reply

Is Dark Angel in the film? Cause they *beep* rule. Exhorder too.

reply

I bet they won't be. *beep* Pantera

reply

Yeah, what does Pantera have to do with thrash? They went from non-metal to tough guy stomp metal. What about Exhorder?! I'm all about Sodom and old school Megadeth footage (the most). It would be killer if Pestilence, Possessed, Holy Terror, Sadus and other overlooked acts were included as well.

I'd like to add that it's extremely lame and a total slap in the face to the legacy of real metal, that this documentary would include the likes of "kittie" and Corey Taylor, of Slipknot, who aren't even metal. Slipknot is like limp bizkit trying to be heavier, and thinking every day is Halloween. No thrash there.

reply

Pantera's Cowboys From Hell is heavily thrash influenced, they just merely adopted a more groove style. And they did play metal before Cowboys From Hell, its not thrash, but its definitely metal (at least the later albums of their 80's period were).

All of those "nu" bands you list at the end, as mentioned in the documentary, are directly influenced by thrash, which is the reason why they are in the video. Godsmack is not thrash, but the vocalist started off in a thrash band, stuff like that is information that should be/is contained in this video. Obscure thrash acts talking about the glory days would get old fast, you need familiar faces in heavy music to truly get a grasp at how influential thrash was and still is.

reply

What, Pantera isn't thrash? Listen to "Becoming," *F--king* Hostile," "By Demons Be Driven," or heck, a lot of their songs. And have you heard Kittie? They sound like they could rip your face off. And I agree about having some overlooked acts in there. I saw Possessed in concert in 1987. Well, maybe in Part II? Can we make requests? I vote for Overkill and Nuclear Assault!!!

reply

Gene Hoglan played drums in Dark Angel right? He is in the cast.

reply

Yeah he played in Dark Angel

reply

Just found out about this project! All of a sudden I forgot all movies around me and can't wait for this one!

greetings from europe!

reply

when is the movie gonna be done? shouldn't it have premiered like 2 months ago in London or something? Has anyone seen it?

reply

It has premiered already, as you can read here: http://www.getthrashed.com/news.htm

But what's going on now? When will this be released on DVD?

The FAQ says this, so an update from the makers or someone that knows anything would be great

2 - Will there be a DVD?
The Get Thrashed DVD should be available sometime in 2006 and will feature over an hour of extra footage that will not be seen when Get Thrashed airs on television.

reply

Get Thrashed will be in TBD film festivals for the first half of 2007.
We hope to have a deal in place for a DVD asap / in 2007.
We're working on it as hard and as fast as we can but other factors are at play in determining when it will be released. I wish I could release it tomorrow!
Sorry about the long, long wait. I think you'll find it worth it when it is finally released.
Thanks so much for your support.
Best,
Rick

reply

Man that's the info I need. I'm definitely gonna buy it, maybe 4 or 5 copies (so I can use as presents for my friends)

reply

How about an update? Been a while now. If a DVD is around any corners, will it only be region 1 or will it be released in other regions as well? Seems like you're only focusing on the festivals.

reply

I hope soon!
I hope they also do a Documentary of Death Metal
and Black Metal music! I'm more into that!
But I always love Thrash.

reply

Please tell me you're releasing it in Australia. PLEASE tell me this. I need to hear these words.

We break through the Ethereal, only to discover that reality is a dark and hideous thing

reply

This is going to be amazing. As someone who grew up on Thrash Metal and knowing all the effects it had on modern metal, I am stoked to see this flick! As soon as it becomes available on DVD I am there! Props to the filmakers bringing this part of musical history to the mainstream. At its highlight Metal was generally frowned upon by mainstream and now 20 years later, most charts are dominated by heavy rock/ metal bands!!!

reply

i heard mille petrozza really liked the movie

Got it yesterday. It's rockin' but there isn't much music throughout the whole documentary. I know it has something to do with getting the rights to play the tunes but being this is one of the only documentaries on thrash the bands could have given up a smidgen of music so fans and potential fans could hear then go out and buy and support them. Im talking mainly about the smaller and more obscure bands.

reply

I too just got it recently (at Hot Topic of all places) and I gotta say I don't know what you mean. I thought the documentary was a pretty impartial and inexclusive look at the thrash "scene" as a whole. I think it did what it set out to do - give an accurate documentation of thrash. If there wasn't enough obscure music in there for you, than perhaps you're missing the bigger picture. Of course if that's you're only complaint then it couldn't have been too bad!

reply

Well there was enough music I guess but I wanted to hear a snippet of each of the bands that were mentioned or briefly spoken with, even just 15 seconds of one of their tunes or even 5-10 sec of live video footage. After viewing it a second time, I guess I should be happy with what's there. The commentary explained alot of why they made the doc that way so it's cool.
