Love this movie but it should have been called "The Frog Prince"

It would have made more sense imo. Tiana doesn't really become a princess until the very end when she marries Naveen. Still love the movie though.

Yes and Yes!

I agree, and it would have helped attract the boy demographic.

The Frog Princess! It's even better than Shrek! šŸø

It couldn't really be called 'the frog prince' because that's already a well/known story where the princess kisses the frog and he turns back into a prince. So quite a different story, although similar.

No, you're wrong. Disney (and other studios) have been retelling stories for years, and taking creative liberty while keeping the original title.

reply

Agree OP especially since they both spent majority of the film as frogs.

I think The Frog Prince would've been a better name. But not The Frog Princess because that is a distinct Russian fairy tale. Speaking of which, how about a Russian princess?

Fox studios did Anastasia in 1997.

reply

I realize that, but that wasn't Disney and I feel like Fox kind of missed the mark on that one.

reply

I hated it too, but still: Disney probably wouldn't make an Anastasia film if a pretty prominent animated feature has already been made of her.

reply

Well it wouldn't have to Anastasia; it could be any other Slavic fairy tale. It could look beautiful... here is a Russian animated fairy tale:

I have to agree. Couldā€™ve just called it The Frog Prince. Wouldā€™ve avoided the whole ā€œgirl movieā€ stereotype that this movie is accused of. I wish it didnā€™t come to that but it does.
