Demi can't act..but are we surprised?

I just saw the trailer for this movie, and is that Demi's half-a$$ed attempt at a British accent? Yikes, couldn't she try harder? She is one of the worst actresses out there, and I never thought she was attractive either. Hopefully Michael Caine will save this film..

reply

Hi ya!

Well since her character is an American living in London she ought to have a crappy accent, right? The film is great, saw it.

reply

But you were right about her not being attractive...

reply

Disagree completely.
I find extremely beguiling, attractive and alluring.

reply

WHAT?? I wish I look as good when I'm her age and I always loved her as an actress. Some of you only know her since Charlie's Angels and some from G.I. Jane, but I followed her carreer from the beginning, in Hughes movies, with the bradpackmovies, they called them and then the great thriller "The Seventh Sign" and "Ghost" ofcause, a few bad ones (Striptease f.e.)but especially in movies like A Few Good Men, she played very well. Oké, she's no Meryl Streep and not even a Jolie or Blanchett, but she can act, just give her the right part and she can even be great.

But that goes for most actors from her calliber, one good part and you're in (f.e. Hillary Swank trough "Boys Don't Cry", or Halle Berry through "Moster's Ball", it made their carreer and they still reap the benefits), as it should be, unless they keep making crappy movies like f.e. Nicholas Cage (great actor, 'till he got too many offers and now he plays like he's on remote control or something, lol)......

Demi is sexy and getting sexier with age, it seems.....
Must have something to do with her boytoy Ashton, let's just say, I wouldn't kick him out of my bed, especially with her there. Just kidding, hahaha....

Dexter Morgan: I can't kill Dr. Meridien yet. I still need another therapy session

reply

well if you followed her career from the beginning then you forgot to mention her years on General HOspital. I watched it as a kid she was horrible then and is so now.
I can take her seriously as a cop or a british "lady" either. She sure does try, but she isnt that type of caliber to be given those kind of roles. she should stick to something more her style

I think the only movie that I didnt utterly dislikee her in was a Few Good Men.

For the record she looks amzing for her age, but spending half a mill on plastic surgery also helps.

Your right she is no Meryl Streep so she should stop trying to act like she is

reply

Please tell me that's just a typo!? They were the brat pack...lol.

reply

You're an idiot grapeape! You're so funny for acting like it might not be a typo, like you've never done it. You're one of those *beep* that I've heard about.

reply

Well at least you're living up to your name. Learn to relax a bit mate.

reply

It is what used to be called a "mid-Atlantic" accent that is acquired by many American fellows that have spent too much time in England and end up with the same accent as Englishmen who have spent excessive time in North America. Of all the American actresses. Gwyneth Paltrow mimics the English "home counties" accent best, she must have an excellent ear for music. Perhaps Radford;s casting director should have cast Demi as a Canadian but then she would be ending every other sentence with the word "eh".

reply

Exactly. She wasn't trying for an accent. Some of these people. Speaking out the side of their neck.

reply

Just saw it. She's supposed to be an American living in London, but yes, her acting was surprisingly bad. I used to think she was pretty though. :D

reply

I though her acting was brilliant, the best she has ever done since Ghost

reply

That's a long hiatus...

reply

She was playing an American character so you are the idiot here.

reply

As the guy above me said, she's an American in London, what British accent then lol
Idiot, first watch the movie, then comment.

reply

I don't like her either, but was truly surprised in this movie. Maybe I had to low expectations but I think that Moore, along with Caine acted very well!

reply

Her acting and accent were fine, boy wonder.

reply

Clever little movie, Demi's acting was better than passable, and of course, Sir Michael could read a cookbook and be utterly charming.
Fwiw, she played an American who had lived in London for 20-odd years, therefore the half-accent.

reply

I think so too and I never thought she was a bad actress, maybe a few bad movies, but she was great in The Seventh Sign, wich was a very good movie too and I loved her in G.I Jane, eventhough the critics were not so impressed, but I thought she was great in it and even with no hair she is beautiful, she even looked better then the Angels when she played in Full Throttle.
Then there is her good part in Ghost and A Few Good Men, not to forget her older movies, like St. Elmo's Fire, One Crazy Summer etc. In the thriller Disclosure she was great, eventhough the movie wasn't, just as in that one with Robert Redford, Indecent Proposal(?) but a few flops, like Striptease, The Juror, Half Light, The Scarlett Letter, but she is making slowly her comeback, in Flawless, a small part in Emilio Estevez's movie "Bobby" (also an ex-boyfriend), but also in Mr. Brooks, a suprisingly good thriller with Kevin Costner as the "bad guy". So I don't agree with those who say she can't act, because she proved it by becoming the best payed actress in Hollywood and then she left to make some babies and since a few years they went back to Hollywood to work on her comeback, but also on her new marriage with Ashton Kutcher, who is just right for here, he can make her laugh and even Bruce likes him. So overall she is coming back and hopefully this time to stay. And she looks even better then ever before, allthough maybe not in this movie, but certainly in real life!!!

You posin' for pictures? Or you gonna pull the trigger? (Crime Story)

reply

Lambert Wilson's accent was all over the shop!

reply

In the preview she was definitely affecting some kind of accent and since other posters have said she is supposed to be an American living in London, I am not certain what kind of accent I was supposed to be hearing. Whatever it was it didn't sound good.

reply

Moore's acting was very good in this film. People should get off the 'I hate Demi Moore' wagon and call it good acting when you see it.
Plus she's damn attractive and plays well off Caine.
So give the lady credit where credit's due

reply

I agree too!
At the beginning of the trailer you just assume she is American - but why does she start saying things like "You Caahnt be serious' with an English affectation in the middle. Seems to me like she attempted the English accent then they realised she couldn't actually manage it and hastily wrote in an explanation that she's an American in London....

reply

i have to side with the people who don't "get" the accent, but i don't really fault demi moore. if you only watch the trailer- and let's face it, that's how a vast majority of people come to find out about movies- there is no explanation that she's expatriate. it really sounds like she's trying desperately to affect an english accent and can't quite make it. on the flip side, having had many friends who move from the u.s. to london, i agree that after awhile a strange "half-accent" begins to creep in. but i also know firsthand that they would get flak from both sides of the pond- americans who think they have a fake british accent and british people accusing them of aping certain expressions and pronunciations. it's kind of a "lose-lose" situation, really. i'll see the film for michael caine, but i'm keeping my expectations WAY low. that way i'll be pleasantly surprised is demi can pull it off...

reply

Demi Moore can act. She is actually quite good. The people who say she can't act have got to make up their own minds instead of repeating what has been said in the media. Ignore all the tabloid and retarded shows and watch her movies for what they are. She's actually quite good.

reply

oh, it's not a question for me if she can act or not. i happen to like demi moore very much, and when she is cast well, say in "charlie's angels 2" or way back in "ghost", she has a wonderful presence. but her range, in my opinion, is not as wide as someone like michael caine. so when she's miscast, it's a little painful for me to watch her BECAUSE i like her.

reply

agreed. TERRIBLE acting! just plain downright awful.
