Great Analisys on the Scene Compsition

Maybe this has been posted before on here...

There is a great little youtube channel that analyses how Refn composes many frames into quadrant for visual and storytelling effect. The channel has other great videos but this one only deals with drive:

I watched this last night! Very interesting video for fans of the movie. I also really liked his take on the "silent moments" in Scorsese's work. Thanks for posting.

Yeah I saw that, it was very interesting. I never noticed it before. It's all part of making films a really immersive experience that you get lost in because of so much going on even in one single shot.

Every Frame a Painting is incredible

@MajorDonWest I didn't watch Drive because I heard it was dull, but after seeing that video I decided to watch Drive anyway.

It was still dull, but at least I had fun noticing the use of quadrants. That channel is terrific.

Glad you could take away something of it though!

I can only hope that Every Frame A Painting will put out more videos in future.

reply

@MajorDonWest Yeah, that channel's like a film appreciation school without the pretentious professor.

His video on David Fincher got me to rewatch Se7en:
