Finally a great fantasy movie with less Talento...

I think the User Comment needs to be changed to someone who knew about the story and knew Japanese before he saw this great movie. Whatta sap. Go home gaijin!

Granted when I was told about this movie, I thought my friend was being a little 'otaku' about it. After wiki-ing it and reading the manga, I thought that this might turn out to be a 'talento infested' movie. After watching it, I was highly impressed at how well it was put together. Sure, there were many scenes that were changed and the possibility for a sequel (maybe 2009?) was put at the end, but I was hooked.

I hope that everyone enjoys this when it hits the states and becomes part of your DVD collection. I highly anticipate the 4-DVD set that comes out here in Japan.

"talento" are idols who're more known for their good looks rather than actual talent (aka eye candy) . . . Though I have to agree about the commenter - he should have actually known more about the backstory/original before saying anything about the movie (the main story really does focus more on Hyakki-maru's story than Dororo's . . . he is after all the antagonist; and the manga was at one time called "Dororo and Hyakki-maru" though it was changed back to "Dororo" later on . . . ?).

Glad to have learned there's a term for this bad habit (talento). I mean no offense, I liked the story, but the lead actors didn't do much for me.

And while I often prefer the original written works, why should someone have to be familiar with them to be able to comment on a movie? Even people who like original works may also be disappointed with movie adaptations.

And why should you insult someone for being a gaijin? I'm from the US, and I love Asian movies; I find many, many of them to be superior to the movies we put out. Would you rather that no one outside of Japan watch these movies?
