If no one is going to acknowlege Devon Gearhart, I will..

He was AMAZING in this film. I saw it for the first time last summer, just randomly clicking through channels. Then I saw it again, from the beginning. Devon is such a mature actor, being able to handle that kind of role with a mother who is crazy. (she did an amazing job too, BTW) I really don't understand why no one has mentioned him yet- there aren't any pictures either. He WAS the main character- this movie focuses on him and and how he deals with his dysfunctional parents. Bravo to Devon, I would love to see him in a big hollywood film where his is a lead. Maybe he will get more recognition- because if great directors don't know about him- they need to find out!

I agree. He gave an excellent performance in the film.

I thoroughly agree. His performance was outstanding, and he carried the film. Oddly, even his IMDb entry slights this film. Instead it features his role as the juvenile Bobby Jones who soon grew up into somebody else, as the first casualty in 'Funny Games' and as one of the boys in 'The Changeling' -- all small roles occupying only part of their respective films. His other major role, in 'Dog Days of Summer', gets similarly short shrift. He was one of the outstanding young actors of his day and deserves more credit than he ever got. Perhaps he find belated recognition in his young adult roles.
