Inaccurate border procedure

As someone who has crossed the Canadian border multiple times, I can tell you they will scan your passport, not just hold it in their hand outside the booth. The booth person won't come outside the booth. They WILL scan your passport. Which means that most likely the Anna character might have been flagged and had to go inside for further questioning about her status. Also missing from the "border crossing" in the film were cameras which take photos of you in your car before you get to the booth. They also forgot to ask how long they planned on staying and where they were going (i.e. where exactly -- not just "visiting my aunt." It would usually go more like, "Where are you heading?" "Boston to visit my Aunt." "How long are you staying?" "One week." "What do you do for a living?" "I'm a dentist."

Stuff like that. They ask if you are bringing any alcohol, tobacco or firearms. It's all very standard. If your car is loaded up with suitcases and stuff then they might ask you to go inside and may inspect your car.

What you probably won't get is a stamp in your passport because the US and Canada don't usually bother with that though it is a VERY good idea to ask for them to stamp it because it will be proof that you entered legally and when. (You can stay up to 180 days as a visitor.)

I've been through massive border crossings like the Peace Arch in Washington and also tiny tiny ones in Quebec so I think I have at least a little perspective and I'm surprised at how little research was done for this film.

I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
