Drama, not a comedy. And not a good drama, either.

As a concept piece, it's at least a 7/10, maybe as high as 9. Great idea.

As a film, I give it a 4/10. One-dimensional characters throughout, no arc, no growth, weak dialogue, etc. In face once you basically know the overall premise, it's not really even necessary to watch it, because the only things that will surprise you in any way come so far out of left field it's staggering. Scenes in Winnipeg, I'm talking to you.

As a "romantic comedy", I give it a 1/10. The romance is a subplot, and a weak one, and there's about 3 "i kinda smirked a bit" moments. That's it.

It's a little bit "Planes Tranes and Automobiles", a little bit "Easy Rider", a little bit "Wag the Dog", and a little bit "Canadian Bacon." Unfortunately, it's all of the bad little bits, and none of the good.

This film needed a major rewrite. The male lead was unsympathic, whinny little boy who didn't get his way and ran away from home. Anna Paquin should passed on this one. And the portrayal of Canadians was about the worst I've seen since "Canadian Bacon". But my daughter recommended this film amd I watched it her. We agree it was a complete waste of time.
