15 year old passes out during 'Blood Car'

The following is quoted from Hugh Braselton - who came up with the story of "Blood Car" - on Atlantafilms.com

During the screening of Blood Car last night in Sarasota a fifteen year old male passed out. One of the ushers told us while we were leaving, "Hey, this fifteen year old walked out of the theater in the middle of the movie and fell on the floor." Us, "Was he okay?" Him, "He's fine, he just passed out."

The incident occurred during the most graphic part of the film, so that means it wasn't from lack of hydration. And, I was sitting behind the kid and his friend and the kid never came back. His friend stayed the whole time.

If you go to the Blood Car myspace - myspace.com/44478458 - the kid tells about his experience in the comments section, and if you look at his profile his quote is "I faint at film festivals". We're just glad he's okay. And I think, " I faint at film festivals" may be the coolest quote ever.

Haha {I know its not funny} but I was volunteering that night and I came out of the bathroom and saw him laying on the floor.

Yeah, we saw that kid leave and wondered why he never came back. His (much) younger sister faired much better. Good parenting there.

though his reply was lame, so was the movie - not much comedy and not much horror, I gave up on this piece of crap when he shot that little dog repeatedly with the BB gun. I can't stand that kind of crap in movies because some little retard is going to think its cool and do it for real. Idiots and a piece of shait movie!

reply

… I gave up on this piece of crap when he shot that little dog repeatedly with the BB gun.

Please go and watch nice movies, Bambi is really sweet. Oh wait, didn't his mum got shot? Try to watch Blood Car completely before filing any complaints. It's a vegan movie!

reply

Ok you big bad internet warrior, I really wouldn't care if he shot a baby repeatedly with a BB gun - I just don't like seeing animals getting hurt....and I am not going to watch the entire thing cause while the concept was good, the acting was cheese, not the good kind either.

reply

I love your reply, thanks for putting everything back in perspective again. It's so in the Blood Car league.

Then you should have no problem as no animals are SEEN getting hurt.

People like you make me sick sonny jim. Humans > Animals. Simple as. It vexes me to see money going to foundations to save homeless dogs, save the homeless people - or send the dogs to the starving, i'm sure they'd find them much more useful.

In a country with so much wealth there should be no reason why there would be a problem both? We could be supporting homeless shelters for dogs and taking care of every man, woman, and child in this country but instead of using the wealth in this country to help those who need it, the Bush, Cheney, and Company made sure during their 8-year theft of office to ensure the richest of the rich got even richer while the middle-income families dropped into poverty and the low-income families dropped into even more poverty. The middle-income families who have bore the brunt of the taxes paid over the decades are losing everything that they once paid taxes on in order to pay for many programs that helped people while the rich families do nothing because they believe because it doesn't affect them directly then to hell with the "little people."

Everyone is broke including the country because BC&C (Bush, Cheney, & Company) raided our treasury acting as if it was their own private piggy bank making certain those who didn't need tax cuts were the only ones who got them while those who needed them most didn't get a damn thing.

Middle-income families are losing everything including their homes, which generated tax income for the country but now there are fewer and fewer people the government can screw out of their money b/c there are fewer home-owners around to pay taxes into the system. The rich people have their loop-holes and shelter funds to prevent paying anything in but the rest of us are screwed. Families of veterans who never made it home are living with relatives or in the street because there was no money set aside after Shrub and his Repug Cronies started an illegal war against an intangible enemy knowing they could drag it out for as long as they liked because let's face it, how does one go to war with terrorism? You don't! A large portion of veterans who did make it back came back medically disabled so therefore they were discharged from the military and no longer eligible for any medical care with the exception to the VA Hospitals who are so overrun now they can't take care of anybody. These disabled veterans and their families are losing if they haven't already lost everything they had. The veterans who are able-bodied after returning are often psychologically damaged and therefore put out of the military losing any chance at getting help. They are unable to get health care insurance because of the loop-holes in health insurance policies that state they do not cover for injuries or conditions as a result of war. There are news broadcasts all across the country where these men and women who served in our military putting their lives on the line even though it was for an illegal war but they did their job as ordered and now they are taking their own lives b/c they believe their families would be better off without them when it is just the opposite. Husbands, wives, and children need their parents. Parents need to have their children come back to them safe and sound and if that's not possible, it is incumbent upon us as a country to take care of these veterans because they served this country by putting the only thing they had toward the safety of the country and that was their lives... Instead of taking care of these men and women, VA hospitals and even civilian hospitals, doctors, and specialists are turning them away because they don't have a million dollars to pay for their medical care for life or support their families or even themselves for that matter.

The non-profit organizations that are out there to help people rely on donations from the public but since Shrub with his BC&C tanked the economy, there are few to no jobs so there is little to no money coming into the programs from donations. Retail doctor visits (those without insurance covering part of the bill) can cost upward of $300 to $1000 a visit not including various tests to get to the root of their problems then treat them for the conditions they have. It's the same with civilians who didn't serve in the military for whatever reason be it age, pre-existing health problems making them ineligible, or the fact they were the primary caregivers and breadwinners to support their families and could not leave their families else they end up on the street with nowhere to live; however, this is happening regardless and the heartless bastards in their billion dollar homes with their BMWs, Mercedes, and summer homes on Martha's Vineyard, etc... don't give a damn because it doesn't affect them directly. They have made it abundantly clear they don't want any part of helping others. They scream and yell socialism but yet they have no problem with services provided by the police, fire department, school system (most, if not all of them send their kids to private schools b/c they believe they are too good to send their kids to public schools like the rest of us out here), and other similar programs. They don't think those programs are socialist yet if anyone brings up the need, the desperate need for a national health care program they scream and spew their hatred by calling it socialism and then proclaim the "government" isn't taking their money to help others who have nothing regardless of the fact that most people who are financially strapped or bankrupt are this way through no fault of their own. They didn't choose for Bush to bankrupt the country so he could go play dictator over other countries then spout off about how HIS GOD told him it was right. If an average person proclaimed then proceeded to play soldier against any group in this country, that person would go to jail or to mental health yet Bush, Cheney, and Company did it and the ignorant fools in this country allowed it rather than put the ones responsible for this mess in a padded cell for the rest of their lives.

People can't afford to buy medications, life-SAVING medications. Hardly a week goes by when people are not dying all because they cannot get adequate health care and access to medications that are LIFE-SAVING! The JACKASSES who are fighting against a national health care plan for everyone have no clue as to the long-term savings we would see if we did have national health care available for everyone.

Think of the unpaid ER bills where far too many people must go to get any medical treatment because they can't afford the $300 to $1000 they'd have to shell out in order to see a medical doctor in an office. Of course, if they can't afford the doctor's visit, they sure as hell can't afford the prescriptions the doctor will write to help with their conditions. If everyone were covered under a national health care plan, there would be fewer bankruptcies, fewer absentees from work, fewer absentees from school, and over time with proper and regular health care treatment, many diseases that would otherwise leave people disabled for life would not be disabling if caught soon enough to treat the problem before it becomes disabling. If we capped pharmaceutical companies where they can't charge the citizens of the USA 1000% over what they charge for the same drug in other countries, you'd find that more and more people could afford necessary medications to treat their illnesses. A prime example of how the pharmaceutical companies screw Americans... the Depo Provera birth control injection that is given once every 3 months costs about $50 to $100 plus the cost of an office visit for a nurse to inject the drug. It requires no tests, just an injection. The same drug is available in other countries like India and etc... for $7. What is wrong with this picture? An entire county's employees were buying their medications from Canada where they are considerably cheaper. It pissed off the pharmaceutical company CEOs to the point they sent their lobbyists into congress under Shrub's administration pushing to the point that the law threatened to put the governor of the state and the leaders within the county in jail for allowing their employees to save money by ordering their medications from across the border. The pharmaceutical companies claimed there was a danger in contamination. Well, tell me how their drugs are contaminated when they are sold in the exact same identical boxes and bottles as they are here in the United States, where they are shipped out of the country mind you, yet none of the Canadians got sick from "contaminated" drugs? The drugs get even cheaper when ordered from China, Japan, Britain, England, Australia, etc... and these drugs are produced and packed by US pharmaceutical companies then shipped to these countries where they are sold WELL BELOW COST of what WE PAY HERE! Why? Because people in those countries would not pay what we pay here for our drugs. They'd open their own pharmaceutical companies, throw out our distributors and create pharmaceutical companies of their own who wouldn't be scamming them out of their hard-earned cash the way they do here.

Doctors in other countries seem to care more about their patients than about their income. In the Sicko Documentary, a physician who was interviewed lived quite well on his salary without forgetting why he went to medical school in the first place, which was to SAVE LIVES! All our physicians want is to earn a wad of cash and it doesn't matter to them who they have to steal the money from to get their cash either. They don't care that 80-year-old Mrs. Smith is unable to work and because her Social Security Check is based on what she earned when she was working regardless of the fact that the cost-of-living when compared to her SSA check is not enough to support one person by keeping a roof over her head, groceries in the house, utilities paid, fuel to run errands and pay bills, in addition to doctor appointments, tests required to ensure she remains as healthy as possible, and any medications she requires to remain as healthy as possible. In other countries where health care is available to everyone, Mrs. Smith doesn't have to fear whether she will have to give up her life-SAVING drugs to remain healthy or buy groceries and pay rent, or give up half her groceries and all her medications just to cover utilities.

Schools in other countries where health care is available to everyone do not need programs set up like "No Child Left Behind" only to have the one who started the damn program forget to provide funding for it because it is expected that no child will be left behind since the schools receive the funding they require including pay for teachers that they can actually afford to live on without having to leave to go into another career because they can't survive on a teaching salary. All children learn and they learn a hell of a lot more than our students do because those countries actually care that their students be able to attend college and gain all the necessary education they need in order to find meaningful and sustainable income to support themselves then at some point in the future support their families.

The United States ranks so low among these countries in the areas of citizen health, student education, and access to affordable medications that it is disgusting and makes me ashamed of those who refuse to make changes to lift us up out of the quagmire we have been in for so long. The fact that they have access to medical care to retain their health and an education to broaden their horizons and find better jobs where they can have the career they want proves that we are not doing something right here. We have the highest crime rates among these countries as well and I believe this correlates to the fact that this country's government through the majority of morons in this country cannot see the forest for the trees. If the people are healthy and have access to medication and doctors as well as a prominent education the crime rates will be lower because there will be no need to steal.

When did this country start to believe and then proceed to put a price tag on a human life?

I hear so many people talking about how "oh the United States has the most advanced medical technology in the world." Well, what good is having the most advanced medical technology in the world when less than 2% of the country's citizens have access to it while the other 98% of the citizens live in worst than third-world country conditions when it comes to health care and access to medications that are life-altering and/or life-saving? It's not worth it. It's high time we cap prices that pharmaceutical companies can charge here in the USA. If they charge $7 for a drug in Canada and India then it should be $7 here versus $50 to $75 (Depo-Provera cost difference as of 2004, via a study put out by a world study on costs of medications worldwide by the same pharmaceutical companies who sell the same drugs in the USA as sold abroad only the drugs sold abroad where severely discounted, some as high as 1000% lower than what is sold to citizens in the USA where these companies are located; can't recall exactly which statistic as it has been a while since I read it; however, this drug in particular stayed with me because I was on the medication to prevent pregnancy for a number of years until taking more permanent steps to prevent pregnancy after being diagnosed with lupus (SLE) and Sjogren's disease).

If we could implement these changes then over time, this country could improve and become greater than ever before because we would not be sacrificing our tax dollars on frivolous nonsense (ie.. CEO bonuses in the billions of dollars after they tank the companies they are in charge of while expecting the taxpayers to bail them out) but rather putting it to where it is most needed which is in health care and education. If we made it so people could afford health care and further their education the rate of crime would drop considerably. Many repeat offenders with mental conditions would drop because those who require medications to control mental disorders such as bipolar disease, schizophrenia, PTSD, and other such conditions would be under control. As it is now, people with mental disorders are put into a mental facility until their drug therapy is back where it will allow them a normal life, booted out the door with a prescription in hand, yet nobody stops to think about how that person is going to be able to afford to have the prescription filled especially given the cost of medications to treat these conditions; you can surely bet the people who are in mental care facilities because their medication levels were low or non-existent will not have a job waiting for them after their mandatory 30, 60, to 90-day stay depending upon the laws in different states as the required treatment time varies from state to state. No employer will leave a position open while people with mental disorders obtain treatment. If employed before they go in, they have no job when they come out. If they have no job when they come out, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out they will not have the money to fill the prescription in order to maintain their mental health status. Does it?

Then there is the war on drugs, which we have never won or even come close to winning. Sure, nobody wants cocaine on the street or crack but if we start educating people on the dangers when they are children and start educating these babies who are having babies about true birth control there would be fewer pregnancies. The status quo of teaching abstinence-only is a total crock. Hell, just look at Palin's rugrats! It's obvious that Sarah Palin doesn't know the meaning of birth control so it's no doubt her children don't either, which explains why her teenage daughter got pregnant. Palin was too busy playing at politics she lost sight of teaching her children the truth - if you have unprotected sex, you can get pregnant or worse, you can contract a sexually transmitted disease and there are a few out there that will change your life forever - Ever hear of HIV and AIDS? What about hepatitis? We can't rely on parents to teach their kids about sex and protecting themselves against sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancies so it's time we open up the subject of sexual education in health class making certain to strip the cold hard facts to the bone to ensure that every student in the classroom receives that wake-up call about how not only can having unprotected sex can result in pregnancy, which generally leads to having a child being neglected and/or abused at home by the parents but also the fear of what HIV and AIDs do to those with the disease. Set up field trips to hospitals strictly set up for people with HIV and AIDs or an HIV/AIDs ward where patients can have open and frank discussions with the kids as to what life is truly like living with a disease they contracted either through sharing needles or by having unprotected sex. Abstinence-only simply IS NOT WORKING! If anything, the teen pregnancy rate is even higher now than it has ever been. Palin didn't help matters by condoning what her daughter did. It's a fact people, if teenagers want to have sex, they WILL HAVE SEX! The best we can do as parents is tell them about the risks, get our daughters on birth control BEFORE THEY HAVE SEX and TEACH THEM HOW TO USE A CONDOM! It's called preventative measures! The alternative is knowing your teenager is out there playing Russian Roulette with their lives because trust me, there are students in every school in this country that has HIV and/or AIDs and then there are those who have it but don't know it yet because the idiotic parents believe that by teaching abstinence-only, their child is going to listen. People are literally that stupid and that naive. It has to stop and it has to stop now.

This will not be an overnight change but if we start making the changes now, perhaps in a few generations there will be permanent change we can see with tangible evidence marking the changes. The current status quo isn't working.

Perhaps by then, when we get our own lives straightened out to the point where people aren't choosing between medication, doctor visits, rent/mortgage, or paying utilities yet always having to choose which is the most important and having medications and health care being at the bottom of the list, which opens the door for disabling conditions in the future, nobody will have to die because they couldn't afford health care or life-saving medications and keeping a roof over their heads, utilities on, and groceries in the house.

Charity starts at home. And, this type of charity will give a generation legs to stand on that will one day make us a stronger country as a whole where corporations don't own the citizens of this country. If we start taking care of ourselves, we will have the time and the extra each month to donate to charities such as no-kill shelters. I had to give up donating to a shelter I have been sending a little donation to each year because I simply don't have it. It was bad enough that I'm disabled but now my DH is disabled. He'd go to work tomorrow if doing so would not be signing his death warrant. It's all his doctors and our family, including myself and our 2 children, can do to keep him from attempting to work when we know that if he has 1 more heart attack it could be the one that kills him. The last one nearly did. It has us living hand to mouth each month but I am budgeting the best I can until I can get him on disability. The scary part is that if he loses the health care we have currently through the state, he will die within a matter of days because there is no way we can afford to cover the house, the utilities, groceries, raising our last child at home (straight A, honor roll, and honors society student), and getting both our medications each month he will die. Lack of his insulin alone will put him into a coma from which he will never wake up. There is no reason insulin, syringes, and test strips should cost $700+ retail each month. That's not including his heart medications, or the medications I have to take because of lupus (SLE), Sjogren's, or the treatment I am receiving in order to find out if I have breast cancer or not. My mother's husband can't get health insurance through the state or otherwise and he has cancer. It's a matter of time before he dies from it. He will be lucky if he makes it another year because it's spread everywhere now.

Again, when did someone put a price on a human life? Selling human beings was shown to be illegal during the days of slavery yet we are all slaves of the medical industry today and that's a shame after all the lives that were lost to abolish putting a price on a person's life. What the pharmaceutical companies are doing today and the health industry in general is just as illegal as slavery was during civil war time. This must stop.

Stepping off the soapbox... Didn't mean to go off on a rant. It just unnerves me that so many ignorant people are in this country and cannot see what is right in front of their faces. I'm legally blind and I see it so what's the problem with the others who don't? The only answer I can come up with is sheer ignorance on their part.

My question is, how was a 15 year old able to get in and see this film? It is damn near a NC-17 movie, with all of the sexual language, nudity, and sexual innuendos. Not to mention violence.

The R Rating and R-17 Rating can be surpassed by those under 17/18yrs old if they go to the cinema with an adult over the age of 17/18yrs old as long as the older person purchases the tickets & gives permission for the younger person to enter the cinema to watch the film with permission of the adult who accompanies them.
