How graphic/scary?

I'm not a big fan of scary movies, and bloody gore is my main "turnoff" in such movies. I dont mind seeing blood, or people getting stabbed, but I really hate chopped limbs/heads. Basically I want to know, what level of gore should I be expecting if I go watch this movie?

reply

Less than you'd expect from a movie like this. It's not bad at all.

*Major spoilers about events*

Most of the murders are done offscreen, thank god because the way people die in this movie in theory is very gruesome. So you're left imagining, except for one scene where you see it, but it's not as bad as you might think. There are some gunshot kills and a burning, but those aren't that bad.

Yeah, kindergarten kids getting shot in the head and spine execution style is not that bad.

Well, those weren't very bloody…

You don't actually see any kids getting shot, and any horror effects you do see are shoestring budget and very tame. Not that shoestring budget movies are necessarily a bad thing, it just so happens that this one is. Very bad. In answer to the OP's question though, the movie is neither graphic or scary, just crappy.

You do see one kid get shot point blank in the head. Which I found hysterical. Is that sick? But you're right, this movie is extremely crappy. I can't believe it has actually won awards.

THE SIGNAL- 2007. "Do You Have The Crazy?"

reply

I suppose before Sandy Hook that scene with the kid getting shot might have been funny. But seeing it in 2017 just made me sick.

you have seen more gore in any zombie film or torture film like saw / hostel. nothing groose about this film. just a spoof

reply

If red paint scares you, then don't watch this.

some guy at the film fest asked me if I was going to see it [he was one of the directors or producers or something] and I said no and he said that I should go see it and he asked me if I was 17 and I said no and he was like "oh, well then movie is a little more than R rated"

that isn't true is it?

reply

There is actually a lot of blood, but not much gore. it is not really scary, because all the killings are kind of tongue in cheek. As somebody else already said there ARE shootings of little kids, and even babies killed, which are fairly graphic, but there is much worse out there...

The movie is firmly tongue in cheek and as i said elsewhere it is really funny, even the killings, until the end, which i did not enjoy at all.

Only one scene is very graphic, that being a guy being fed to the car with guts flying. But again there has been worse in most zombie movies, or even in movies like Silence of the Lambs :)

It's not graphic or scary, but it is absolutely brilliant. You do have to have quite highly developed sense of humour to appreciate a lot of it though. If you like, say...South Park and enthusiastically made low-budget (not necessarily entirely) horror, then you will probably get a kick out of this.

If you liked this then check out Ankle Biters, The Janitor, Buttcrack and Gory Gory Hallelujah for starters. There's a treasure trove of great low budget independent gems out there just waiting for the right person (someone who appreciates them) to discover them.

Blood Car is one of the best I've ever seen though, and it's not one of the "so bad it's good" style (which are a related, but different taste). The script and acting and all out balls in your face take it to a higher plane than nearly every one of this "type" of films I've seen.
