No time reference

{sigh}

As others have said, ya, this show is a bad fake. But, is any "reality" TV real? If this had wrapped up in the first or second episode, what would they have done with the rest of their time? Show the greatest moments of... ?

My girlfriend set it to record on one of our TiVo's. We were watching it tonight, and they kept going on about the "no way to tell time."

The money ticker is going $1 per second. If they're stuck in a bunker, I'd have to think *someone* would figure out that the do. Come on, some simple math, and you have your time reference. It would only be skewed by the occasional pauses. $60 is a minute. $3600 is an hour. $86,400 is a day. $604,800 is a week. Someone would have to make adjustments for any other ways they skew the money counter.

I know the concept that they're going with here. I don't know if they explained it at all on the show. Most people don't naturally work on a 24 hour day. There have been a few studies done, where people have been put into situations with no time reference. They'll usually shift to a 36 to 48 hour day, while their perception of time will still be that only 24 hour days have passed. I've worked in several facilities with no sunlight. More often than not, I find myself leaving during off-work hours, but my chances are good as 2/3 of the day are not "work" hours.

Some of us, who are lucky enough to work on our own schedules find this to be true. My time is always skewed, but I'm forced back into the 24 hour day by phone calls and the need to do real-world things, like going to the bank. I'm very grateful for 24 hour grocery stores.
