the poetry of tim key
disappointed to see this two episodes in a row. Its my least favourite segment and the only good thing i could take from seeing it in the first episode was that it wouldn't be back this series. Sh!t out.

shareIts utterly unfunny. I've been fast forwarding it this series....
shareYeah, I don't think that segment works at all. Just seems like a cheap way of filling up a few minutes.

I've always been rather underwhelmed by him when he's done odds and sods on Radio 4.
shareNice to see I'm not the only one who doesn't get The Poetry Of Tim Key. Why on earth is this painfully unfunny crap on every episode this series?

Can it not be the short stories of Tim Key? I see what vaguely 'Emperor's New Clothes' subtle point he was trying to make apropos the 'Woss/Brand' incident and the commercialisation of kids' TV - but that's what we look to Charlie for, isn't it - and, anyway, Chris Morris condensed all this kind of satirical imagined commentary in the jingles for his decade-old Radio One show 'Blue Jam'.
I thought it was very funny, but I do agree that it looks like filler, which it probably is.
DRAAAAAIIIINNNAAAGGGEEE!
i found the first one hilarious, loved the build up

Not a fan of it either, I miss the David Firth sketches like "Twinkle Tits Training Bras" :(
The world will look up and shout, "Save us!" And I'll whisper..."No." ...
I've never really enjoyed the Tim Key that much, not really into poetry stuff... but considering Charlie Brooker provides such epic levels of lol entertainment making fun of tv shows and adverts... can't really complain if he wanted to add a little something else into the mix of his own show, whether it is just filler or because he likes it himself.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=dLjTwh6s53c - its funny in a way taking the piss out Deal or No Deal(utter *beep* but I coudn't watch more than a short segment :))
There was one I actually found really funny but generally it was the low point of an episode. I don't really like it when they cut to a celebrity like Liza Tarbuck talking about a show they used to like either or any of the inserts of that kind(although i did like Stewart Lee's bit a while back but that's just because I'm a big fan of his). I'd rather the show be a couple of minutes shorter than broken up by those little interludes.
I don't think it helped that Tim Key kind of seemed like he considered himself above the material he wrote about. One of the appeals of Brooker is that while he's intelligent and often scathing in his reviews, he's also self depricating and generally makes it clear that it's just his opinion and he's a part of the media machine himself. The way the Tim Key sections were delivered came across like he thinks he's above the people or events he's commenting on. He probably doesn't feel like that at all though and I'm just seeing things that aren't there.
I think the aloof nature of tim key's section were intentional, just not particularly funny. Don't get me wrong sometimes a deliberately unfunny section works and can perversely become one of the funniest bits but I don't think this is one of those times and to have it two weeks on the trot seemed lazy. Not that I'm an armchair critic or anything...
shareI've always been under the impression that Tim Key was taking the piss out of pretentious poetry.
If that is the case I'd say he was pretty sucessful.
I like that Charlie breaks from the mold and tries something different like the TIm Key stuff. I get what Key is trying to do, take the piss out of pretentious poetry, but I personally do find it unfunny and pretty boring.
shareYeah, but to successfully take the piss out of pretentious poetry, you'd have thought he'd actually be funny. Not so focking dull that you want to reach into the screen and slap his fat face.
shareWow, glad I'm not the only one. Really doesn't do anything for me, it's just pure filler.
Pity it's in Newswipe too...

I like it. The bankers one made me laugh out loud.
shareYeah I don't get Tim Key at all.
Which is a real shame when it would be great if he got someone more fitting like Tim Minchin who's beat poetry is both clever and funny.

I've been watching We Need Answers and Tim Key is very different and pretty funny on that.
shareI'm the only one who likes Tim Key, the ironic mock pretensious stuff is pretty good.......
shareI quite like his bit, laugh at most of them.
I understand that a fair few people won't like it.
