The paper put over your chest - thing?

How was that thing an invention?? The woman had been giving thougt to her "invention" about 13years or something? I mean come on. Is that really an invention that you put some paper over your chest area so you would not mess yourself while eating? I've seen people doing it always? But she went atleast to the second round? I have not seen the complete series yet but I thought it was a shocker that she went through. How long did she eventually go?
