Could have been better

1) I'm all for lingual diversity, but I have to say that the flipping between English and French was INCREDIBLY annoying. Either make it fully French, or Fully English. I felt alienated and cheated that I couldn't understand parts of the film because it was entirely in French. Yes, you could argue use subtitles, but having to switch them on and off in a movie really detracts from its enjoyment.

2) Scenes dealing with his homosexuality seemed completely inappropriate and forced. What business is it of careers and hospital staff to ascertain his sexual orientation? One would have thought finding his family and any details about his family and friends were of paramount importance. In addition, I didn't feel that some of these people in the film either mocking or otherwise being derisive about sleeping with women (the scene in the kitchen) or prying into his sexuality was at all cohesive to his memory loss. One would assume that allowing someone to gradually improve his/her memory at their own pace is more beneficial than some of the stree he was put under by some so called "medical" individuals or carers.

These were two of my major gripes with the film.
