What was the birthday gift that Bruno gave to Francoise in the restaurant at the end of the film? Was there some significance to the gift? Thanks

I think it showed that Bruno still remembered, and also showed that he wasn't there by chance (as he says immediately after), also: Francois' toaster was kind of broken (no shield cover) as you can see in the breakfast scene

That's exactly what I thought. Bruno was always keen on details and trivia. I thought he remembered the exact model of the toaster. What I wondered was, if indeed, that was the case, if Francois would put remember that day with the appliances and put it together.
