Bollocks

Despite a promising start, and having Auteuil in the lead, this film made fun of a character who probably suffered from Asperger's Syndrome. It was tediously predictable. It had lame, lazy, and unbelievable plot devices and a cheesy Hollywood ending. You think you're clever and cultured enjoying this twaddle because it's subtitled? Think again.

(Warning: spoilers!)
You might be right. I enjoyed the film on TV last night, but the Who Wants to be a Millionaire ending was a bit too dramatic and over the top for what was up to then a low-key whimsical storyline.
I just wished I han't gone for a pee just before the moment when Bruno smashed the vase. I expect that scene was priceless!
Still, it was fun, and better than most UK and US relationship films I've seen recently!

Great breakdown of an average movie.

They rushed the motivation for Bruno to do what he did, for his best mate.

But if you missed those scenes than i think you missed the whole movie ;)

evenif you still liked it

"this film made fun of a character who probably suffered from Asperger's Syndrome."

There is no evidence at all that the writers and director wanted us to think Francois suffered from Asperger's Syndrome.

In fact the "cheesy conclusion" leads us to a different conclusion.

I also thought the plot was cleverly written with some neat twists.

I think your second last sentence is just that..."twaddle".

If you didn't like it, fine. No need to slag off at others who do. Just deal with it yourself!
