Any special reason Monty wasn't going out with Maya?

Unless she was married or had a man in her life, why didn't he try and get with her? Did I miss something? Did she turn him down? She was very attractive and the nicest, sweetest person in the world. What's the matter Monty, was she not HAAAWT enough? Like Julia? (Sigh, Eyeroll, facepalm)
