why does it all of the sudden become about race?

so a movie made in america with all white cast is "normal" however, a movie made in america with an all black cast is "racial" or "ethnic." what is up with this kind of marginalizing? and why all the racist comments about stepping, and the film in general? would it appease these offended people by the "all black cast" and the fact that they are stepping if the all black cast was dancing ballet instead? what about if it was an all white cast perhaps even mixed cast, and they were stepping? i'm sure this film would be phenomenal!

why don't we take issues with the fact that there was a lack of adequate character development, and a lack of cultural context for those unfamiliar with bglos and stepping instead of the superficial fact that the cast was black and they went to a competition? in fact, one can have issues with the plot itself as a matter of fact, but not because the cast is Black or that they are dancing. Seriously?

It isn't the fact that the cast is all black, it is the fact that it is about dancing. If the cast was all white, it would still have a very low rating. Dancing in movies is just idiotic. A lot of directors do not understand that.

The OP is just ignorant. He is entertaining the idea that people hate this movie because it has an all black cast. Why? Are you going to change the world, change the way people think about race? Blah Blah Blah. He himself admits that this movie sucked in general. The movie sucked and that's that. Here's a clue, if you wanna change the world, IMDB is not a good place to start.

@donnova...are you really that dumb? or did you actually have a real point to make?

I think the poster was saying that people are making a big deal about the cast being 'all black' but no one makes a big deal about most movies which are allor mainly white casts.

which is true.

I personally liked the movie, I mean it wasn't amazing and wether you thought the movie was good or not, your opinion shouldnt be based on the race of the people within the movie.

Oo and there was some white people when he proposed to her in the resturant im sure I saw a few.

Lets all hold hands and march down the streets in protest. Obviously, if people don't like this movie because it is an all black cast, then it has nothing to do with the film itself. It has to do with the fact that people are racist. Get over it. Why are you bringing up an issue that has nothing to do with the film quality? It's about people being prejudice and racist genius. My point is that you answered your own question. You are not going to find some thought provoking revelation as to why people don't like this movie based on the fact it is an all black cast. PEOPLE ARE RACIST, GET OVER IT.

Yeah they are DonNova. But since you are such a smart person, why don't you answer me this. Are you happy with the world as it is today?

My intelligence has nothing to do with whether or not I'm "happy with the world as it is today." But since you are such a smart person, why don't you answer me this. What does your question have to do with "Stomp the Yard" being a crap movie?

I liked the movie (just finished watching the DVD), and I'm sick of reading a bunch of friggin racist posts on these message boards.

I've been to a lot of different boards for dancing movies and many of them get low ratings, but whenever the movie has an all black cast everyone says the only reason it got low ratings is because of racism. There are plenty of movies out there with a mostly black cast that get pretty high ratings (note: they're not about dancing).

On boards for movies that get low ratings with a more white cast, the people that like it will go around saying, "it's only because be are stupid and don't know how to appreciate a good film when they see one". People always try to come up with some excuse to explain why a movie that they like will get such a low rating.

It has nothing to do with race or stupidity, it's just that there will always be two groups of people for each movie: the people that do like it and the people that don't regardless of their race or intelligence. There will never be a movie that everyone likes or dislikes. Well, maybe not so much on the latter.
