why does it all of the sudden become about race?
so a movie made in america with all white cast is "normal" however, a movie made in america with an all black cast is "racial" or "ethnic." what is up with this kind of marginalizing? and why all the racist comments about stepping, and the film in general? would it appease these offended people by the "all black cast" and the fact that they are stepping if the all black cast was dancing ballet instead? what about if it was an all white cast perhaps even mixed cast, and they were stepping? i'm sure this film would be phenomenal!
why don't we take issues with the fact that there was a lack of adequate character development, and a lack of cultural context for those unfamiliar with bglos and stepping instead of the superficial fact that the cast was black and they went to a competition? in fact, one can have issues with the plot itself as a matter of fact, but not because the cast is Black or that they are dancing. Seriously?
