The 'special' moves

There were 2 specific dance moves this movie seemed to make to be special...the one where Columbus Short spins around in the pool, and Chris Brown's elbow-stand. Were these 2 moves actually considered 'killer' moves at the time?

The elbow stand was impressive but the spin move was embarrassing. And the way they made that move out to be special enough for the other guy to steal and take credit for it. And then columbus fmwas all like "oh no, he stole my hula hoop swirl!" Haha pathetic.
