So what was the question that Wendy asked Larry before it cuts to "six months later?" All I can tell is that it convinced him to keep his dog alive and put it through surgery and rehab.

It seems like this is exactly what she asked.

I guess she asked him if she could have the dog, and she helped the dog through surgery etc.
That was what I thought happened.

I was not quite sure why they made this like a big secret, but it left you wondering for a few minutes. I guess this a bit of redemption, she moves on from a destructive relationship and takes something positive while giving it the care that she could not provide to her father.

Very true. But what I don't understand is why they made it out to be a good thing that she saved the dog. Of course it's good that the dog gets to live, but Larry did say the rehabilitation was torturous. I thought he was doing the humane thing by not putting Marley through all that suffering (and not keeping her alive for selfish reasons).

You heart me? What is that? Is that like I love you for pussies?

reply

It's awful that the dog had to go through any suffering but she looked happy to me so, obviously, she got through it and past it. She would have suffered dying as well. Wendy probably took very good care of Marley while it was happening and gave her much attention and affection while she recovered. I can see why a pet has to be put down sometimes. It happened with my boyfriend's cat this past week but there was no hope that he would get better. He was just going to get worse and worse and die anyway so it saved him from added suffering. It's just that sometimes I see people putting an animal down and it isn't always absolutely necessary like with Marley. She suffered but beat it and got past it and that is a good thing as well.

That's true. Sad news about your boyfriend's cat, at least you did all you could. It's a good thing that you knew when it was time.

That final scene was Buffalo's waterfront and not NYC. I believe she had moved to Buffalo with the dog in the end.
