Why did it take so many years to come back?

I am a huge wwe fan and i was just wondering how come there was such a long period of time before they brought "the ppv" back

I don't know either, I'm in as much as in the dark as you are!

I'm guessing that it was because NBC was only interested in getting ratings, and the decline in the popularity of wrestling at the time lead to the show getting axed? Either that or it was just ment to be a special television event that would be broadcasted every now and then. Hope that helps.

reply

no it was because they moved to tnn/spike tv but since usa and nbc are owned by viacom they returned

reply

spike tv are owned by Viacom
USA and NBC are owned by NBc universal

SNME was cancelled in 1991 on NBC and then moved to Fox for 1992, several years before RAW even appeared on the USA network (which began in 1993). RAW moved to Spike many years after that only to return to USA recently.

Moving to Spike had nothing to do with SNME being dropped since it was some ten years prior when the show was removed. SNME was dropped from NBC long before RAW was even conceived on any channel.

Though SNME was shown on FOX a couple of times in 1992, didn't any WWF/E programming still air on USA before RAW debuted in 1993? I thought they showed Wrestling Challenge on USA, as well as Mania and Primetime Wrestling on USA. It's kind of a mystery why they axed the show. In 1997, they tried Friday Night's Main Event, but I heard that failed.
