Possibly the worst DVD I ever bought

I'm posting this as I think Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher should be castigated to the 'where are they now' file for the rest of there careers for churning out to the public this heap of dishevelled tripe.Trust me the highlights of this show on YouTube are the best parts of the series 1 DVD,everything else is literally boring rubbish and not funny at all as someone said in a previous thread.
The only positive is that it's exposed them as a pair of insipid fairy cakes who've tried to cash in on the charm of the Boosh. That worked as they could play to a caricature in there limited role, but here without the part narrating duo of Fielding and Barratt they just didn't have the talent to carry it through and after about 10 mins into each episode I was waiting for the end credits.Point of thread aside from feeling better for posting the truth, trust me if your contemplating buying this, don't,and take no notice of the tiresome conformists who habituate these boards, the price was only part of the issue,I bought it for £16 in HMV,total rip off,and what was with Simon Pegg plugging the show,is he on commission for spewing out half baked comments?

I and a lot of other people disagree with you it seems.

I think the show was original and innovative and bearing in mind the content of the show you can't call me a conformist for that, a conformist wouldn't have got it, just like you.

And Berry and Fulcher work apart from each other as well, much more than you see the boys from the Boosh working apart which says something about their ability to hold a character they haven't performed for years in my opinion. Not that I want to knock the Mighty Boosh it is an excellent show and there's nothing wrong with playing the same characters over and over again if it works.

And if you actually saw the show why did buy the DVD if you hated it so much? Or did you buy it without watching the show just because Simon Pegg told you too and now your sore cos you don't get it?

Silly! You live in a world rife with digital video available FOR FREE all over the web. If you're not competant and/or comfortable downloading entire shows, then clips can be viewed freely & legally on YouTube. If you're feeling really old-fashioned and you live in the UK, you can go out and rent it somewhere.

Get the point yet?

The fact that you actually BOUGHT a dvd of a show you've never seen proves that you're not really bright enough to comment on it...and then you actually show up here whining about it being a "rip off"!

This is the smartest, strangest, most multi-layered show that has been on in years. In many ways it is totally unique. I'm a die-hard Boosh lover - but Boosh doesn't begin to live up to this masterpiece. I've seen this entire series at least a half dozen times, and new elements present themselves literally EVERY time I watch. It's clearly over your head.

You might want to entrust the rest of your cash to a parent or guardian if you want to avoid bigger "rip off" in the future.

specifically what was it that you didn't like? There were parts that i didn't feel were that funny and parts annoyed me (repeated use of theme tune) As a whole it was a pleasure to watch and there were some great moments which overpowered the *beep*

Sounds like you are a boosh-fan who hoped for more boosh-y antics from 2 of the supporting actors from that show. I'm not trying to knock the boosh, i love that show but i've seen an awful lot of booshfans here putting this show down because it wasn't what they expected. I always hesitiate to use this term but it seems like they just don't "get it".

I noticed the same thing with some Boosh fans putting down Garth Marenghi. I know that comedy is subjective and it's all about taste but to dismiss a show simply because it differs from one's expectations is a little narrow minded. However, it may not be just down to that... not everyone's into the dark stuff. I thought snuff box was a great show, and rather profound in many places

I agree £16 is far too expensive for a single DVD, but that's because you bought it in HMV! You should probably buy them online or download things. It's cheaper.

You can't claim that Snuff Box tries "to cash in on the charm of the Boosh", it's a completely differant movement and a much more acquired text. Just because you don't understand it doesn't make it less worthy... if anything it makes you less worthy.

What you've done is spend £16 on something you don't get the humour of, and now you're bitter due to your ignorance and spent cash and so you're attacking arguably the two most forward thinking comedians in television.

And that my friend, makes you a *beep*

On the bright side, ignorance is bliss, so you must be pretty content when you're not talking drivell!

Snuff box is infinitely funnier than Boosh. Boosh has a few good moments, but for the most part the dialogue is pretty stale. Snuff Box is just so much freasher and sinister, I wish there were more episodes.

Snuff box is great maybe you just need some WHISKY.

Literally just watched the first two episodes at a mates house. Painfully unfunny. I seriously don't know how someone said this was better than the Mighty Boosh.

Probably misses his old glasses

I've seen both and this is better than Mighty Boosh. I won't bother saying why I think it is though because explaining is soooo last year.

Pretty much anything Rich Fulcher does in the show makes me cringe. I loved Darkplace and thought Boosh was decent, but this show is incredibly unfunny (minus the *beep* you" sketches, which incidentally exclude Fulcher). I think too many people unconditionally love these guys. Honestly, "Rapper With a Baby"? "Awkward Moments Coffee"? These ideas are so half baked it make me want to... complain about it. I can't say I've ever seen a less funny "sketch comedy" show.

And this is my opinion. Defend the show all you want, I don't care, I just came here to share my opinion. No offense intended to anyone, even Fulcher.

I'm half-way through the series right now, and so far I'm more than a bit disappointed. It has some really funny jokes in it, but a lot of it is pretty stupid, also. I do like it better than "The Mighty Boosh", but I didn't care much for that show at all. Like "Snuff Box", there were some really funny jokes here and there, but I just don't really care for these random, nonsensical shows that seem to be all the rage these days. These shows remind me a lot of "The Young Ones" which just threw random joke after joke at you, some of which was very funny and some of which was very dumb. I much prefer "Darkplace" and "Man to Man with Dean Learner", which are more plot driven and consistent.

If you go to the [adultswim] boards, you'll see a division amongst the fans. One group loves those bizarre, random shows like "Tim & Eric", "Aqua Teen Hunger Force", and "The Mighty Boosh" and other loves the more story driven shows like "Darkplace" and "The Venture Brothers" and if you love one group, then you hate the other. I've been wondering if it's a generation gap, with older fans liking the story driven shows and young kids liking the random crap. I'd like to see the average age of a "Mighty Boosh" or "Aqua Teen" fan compared to the average age of a "Venture Bros." or "Darkplace" fan and see if there's a big difference. If it is a generation thing, then that bodes ill for the future, since when all of those kids grow up and start making TV shows, unless they grow out of it and their tastes change, then almost everything on TV will be random, bizarre crap.

Oh, and it is pretty stupid to buy a DVD of a show you've never seen, especially when you've got the internet at your disposal.

I love all of the shows that you mentioned, and add Snuff Box to that list as well.

idrthmaul, I think you've got it all wrong.

In my experience people who like Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, Snuffbox, Mr. Show, and Monty Python also like stuff like Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, Darkplace, Man to Man with Dean Learner, and Chris Morris' stuff.

They are quite different but still very original and intelligent in their presentation of comedy. They have different goals. I think you take a lot away from Tim & Eric when you just call it random, bizarre crap. Read some interviews with them, or some essays on their work. Fact is, you either get it or you don't.

And story-driven? What makes Darkplace story-driven? I think to call Darkplace story-driven is to have missed the joke completely.

And no it's not really a generational thing, ie. Monty Python. Tim & Eric are doing their bit to save entertainment. You could make a generational argument if you talked about Robot Chicken perhaps... or some of the other adult swim shows.

I'm not a fan of The Mighty Boosh either, I wouldn't class it with Tim & Eric. You would though, because you see them both as random and bizarre - which they both may be - but in very different ways.
