Not Here To Offend....

...but I find Tyler Perry to be using TBS and this show as a platform for religion. Sometimes, I feel like I'm watching the Gospel Network. Religion is something that each one of us must find on our own, as opposed to having it forced down our throats, and being called a sinner when we disapprove of Perry's way of getting a message across. My blessings come from GOD, and NOT Tyler Perry. If these actors want to host a gospel program on Sundays like Joel Osteen; that'd be great! But to use a SITCOM to get all preachy is kinda disturbing. One minute you're talking about crackheads, booty dancers, and sex, then two seconds later, some blasphemous remark like, "Jesus knows what your booty looks like, so why can't I?" are being made. Keep Jesus out of tacky comedy!

Tyler Perrys entire work center around his faith and jesus..So its nothing new.I see nothing wrong with it.

Tyler Perry has always centered his plays and anything else he does around his faith, and belief in family love. His condition to make these two sitcoms was to be able to talk about religion if he felt it was needed. Considering there are hundreds of sitcoms where religion is never mention, and two where they are mentioned, it is easy to avoid them if you really wish.

Tyler Perry has some serious issues. I don't like it either, so I just immediately turn the channel when his garbage comes on.

lol danger how does he have issues for having faith??lamo

Tyler Perry is a suspected homosexual. I think he's using this "religious sitcom" to draw attention away from that. Which is why he can never come out of the closet. He'd look like the world's biggest hypocrite.

I am not Christian, or a member of any other faith, but I enjoy House of Payne and many of other works by Tyler Perry. I don't feel HoP is too preachy. Ella is the most religious character on the show, but Curtis balances her out. Whenever Ella starts talking about God or church, Curtis makes some smart comment in an attempt to get her to stop. I think it's funny. Really, Ella has a big heart and she uses her faith to help others. She doesn't come off as judgmental and I love that about her character. She is a good, although fictional, example of a 'real' Christian.

So....gay people or "suspected homosexuals" can't believe in God? Not putting words in your mouth but that's the conclusion I'm inferring from your post. Do you only have to be a non-Christian to come out of the closet? Gay is such a touchy subject because most "religious" people think that murderers are more easily forgiven than someone that is gay and hurting no one at all. I just don't get it... I'm a pastor's wife and we've had openly gay women come to our church. He's prayed with gay men, and I've prayed with gay men and women. Are they not people too? People think that oh you raped, murdered, molested, stole, did drugs, etc; you are forgiven. But oooohhhh if you are gay, no redemption at all, no forgiveness, nothing what-so-ever!!!

I'm what religious folks call atheist, and I have no problem with them putting their religion out there in this way. After all, the station is from the south . I think of them as very religious anyway.

Ummmm...most religions condemn being gay, and are openly against it. You know, the whole thing about Union being between a Man and a Woman.

So you can't see the hypochrisy of a gay man, practicing a religion/faith that shuns being gay?

Your preaching one thing, and practicing an entirely different thing. People like this are the ULTIMATE hypochrites. Just google Ted Haggard and others of his ilk...

reply

The same religion also shuns having premartial sex but no one has a problem with that and people aren't going around calling single and teen moms who are also Christians hypocrites. Judging by your standards they are also "ultimate" hypocrites. If you are going to condemn homsexuals then you need to condemn people (well pretty much 99% of people in this world) who have sex before marriage! Don't call people sinful when you are also being sinful as well. I guess you are just one of those reglious people who pick and chose what out of the bible and the reglion teachings is right or wrong. Last I checked homesexuality is no bigger sin then premartial sex, adultery or stealing.

I speak my mind and if you don't like it then that's just too damn bad!!!

If you don't like it don't watch it, and keep your opinions to yourself about it. It isn't being "forced" upon you, the show centers around a Christian multi generational family, what did you expect? Sometimes people like you can be hypersensitive, how do expect to find God if you never hear about Him? His shows are apart of His ministry to people, don't like don't watch, but the show will go on like it or not. You honestly don't have the right to say what should and should not be comedy, it is His production and He may do as He pleases.
