Yay!! That was one of my favorite shows! I can't wait to see what happens!

reply

I'm equally excited, lets hope they do it justice. They atleast have Clyde Phillips showrunner from season 1-4 coming back. :)

reply

*crosses fingers* Those were the best seasons no doubt! :)

reply

Yay. I hope this isn't case of Lawrence Kasdan from fame of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Empire Strikes Back returning for Disney's Star Wars sequels...

reply

Most likely though. Where else can this character even go?

reply

best news of the year!

reply

The ending was abysmal, what can they even do?

reply

I dont know but lets hope they have something

I saw the Miami ending. Dexter died in a shipwreck. Part of what I liked about the series was that it was in Miami.

If they're going to bring it back, then I hope it's more gritty and serious. Maybe they move it to Los Angeles. No more Mr. Nice Guy and his relationships. Dexter is a serial killer and the police want to get him dead or alive. He can't work for the police again, but the police find in a strange way that he's helping clean up the city of its murderers. Some people think he's a hero.

reply

He's now in Oregon and has decided to rid the world the BLM terrorist... Most of America would enjoy that series, but it would bomb in the liberal cities.

Dexter is my all time favorite series...

I watch seasons 1 through 6 once every year and half....

I dislike season 7 and Hate season 8 with passion of a BILLION burning suns, for me Season 8 Is Awful but The Season 8/series Finale Is Literally the single worst ending to any series ever.

I watched season 8 live, and Its not an exaggeration to say, I truly will never watch it again in my Life.

I want to get excited about this news, I truly love Dexter...but theres no coming back from season 8.

I cant think of ANYTHING they could do to get me excited if They continue on from the events of season 8

for me, The Only way this could go forward successfully is if they find a way to completely disregard season 8 entirely, Like Literally This new season starts with him "waking up" and season 8 was ALL a dream/premonition and None of it really happen...

Buut That clearly wont happen...

Deb being killed off is what has to be fixed....PERIOD!

Instead, I'm sure what they'll do is have Deb be The new "Harry" in his Mind.....He'll see and talk to Deb like he did with "Harry" when he's in trouble or trying to figure something out...

Its an easy way of coming up with a way of bringing her back that some fans will probably like/accept but for me, Its NOT UNACCEPTABLE

Deb getting killed off was the single worst creative decision in any TV series ever....Those Events must be completely ERASED....somehow, They got to get in the writing room and figure a way out to backtrack and Erase her death....

anyways, I'll watch the new season....But I dont have any HOPE(and that Kills me)

I'm sure my heart will be broken when The first Teaser trailer comes out next year and Its confirmed That Deb is back in "Dexter's Mind" like Harry...It'll probably be the last thing in the trailer, They'll show Dexter talking to someone for a minute and Then Pan out and its Deb and Harry

I liked season 7 more than 5 and 6.

reply

Totally agree. I’d have no problem with them reconning all of that. Maybe have Clyde Phillips do the ending he always wanted to do...

reply

I don't like this revival trend. Let things die.

reply

i hated the x files revival, but i loved twin peaks the return, so i stay optimistic.

reply

Funny you mention Twin Peaks because I recently binge it. What made The Return great is that it wasn't a nostalgia wankfest. It was new and it was BOLD. Dexter has always been like a procedural with a big bad. I don't see how they can keep it fresh and not repetitive.

In discussing the revival, this quote from an writer at slashfilm.com:

"I bailed on the show before it ended, but all you need to know is that the story concluded with Dexter growing a beard and becoming a lumberjack in Oregon."

I laughed at how many city dwellers assumed that a guy in a plaid jacket in the forest must be a lumberjack. It's like assuming everyone who works for Walmart wears a blue vest and works on the floor... Walmart is a company with accounting departments, marketing departments, human resource departments... there are thousands of jobs which don't require blue vests or even dealing with the public.

Lumberjack is an outdated term for someone who works in the forest industry. Specifically, it referred to the guys who cut trees down, or topped taller trees (aka a faller). Today the more general term of forester is used, and there are many more jobs in the industry than simply cutting down the trees.

He might have been a heavy duty mechanic fixing the trucks on site for all we know. Or, the driver transporting the logs to the mill. Or a surveyor mapping out the licensed site. I could go on, but you get the idea.
