If Dexter had any emotion at all, who was it more for Deb or Rita

I think it was Deb his sister who he grew up with..It was his moral duty to allways look out for her..

I definitely cared about Rita a little bit at least! But he definitely cared about Dab WAY more

RIP David Bowie 💕

I care about dabs too , myself...

He cared for Deb the most out of anyone (next to Harrison). I think the ending, despite any criticisms it receives, proves that. After losing Deb, Dexter completely lost hope and gave up on life.

Is that how you interpret the last scene? You're way off base then. Dexter wasn't giving up on life as you say. He was using the opportunity provided by a natural disaster to create a new identity, because he was so close to being figured out. It could conveniently be assumed that he died at sea, so he's using that to cover his tracks. No deep grief is being depicted here my friend.

I didn't get the sense he was "close to being figured out" during the finale. He's been closer and somehow always found a way out of it. I agree with the theories he realized he destroyed everyone close to him and Deb was the final straw. He left Harrison with Hannah and figured they'd be better off without him. I know he's a sociopath so it doesn't really make sense for him to have some sort of relief or regret but I still get the sense, especially in the last season, the writers were trying to push that it's just not so black and white. Especially with Vogel always bringing up how he can't possibly care for Deb yet we saw time and time again that he'd do anything for her. You just assume he can't possibly feel anything because he's a socipath but maybe things aren't that simple.

At least, that's what I got from it. I definitely think he cared for Rita and certainly cared for Deb. In his own weird way.

Deb without question

He cared about Rita. But he loved Deb.

Deb dying totally destroyed him.

Deb for sure. Not sure he ever had true feelings for Rita, though he wanted to. If she had not turned up pregnant, he would have ended that relationship, Imo. I never felt any great love for her from him, just basic concern and attraction. And he was trying hard to do right by her and kids.

He grew into his feelings for Deb along the way. But they were much more real than for any of his other women.
