WHAT HAPPENED TO STEVEN (THE CAMERAMAN)?

Steven (Orlando Jones) was last seen trying to outdistance himself from Gustav (the croc). He didn't board the plane with the other survivors. What happened? Incidentally, I enjoyed the film because my expectations weren't especially high. It wasn't a masterpiece and it certainly wasn't "the worst horror film ever made."

The lead finds his body in Gustaves nest. He was dead.....

Well, yea, they made it clear that Steven was dead, but it was weird that in a movie where they showed EVERY death scene, they just skipped that one..

Apparently when they tested the version where you see him get torn apart the audience really didn't like it, they liked the character too much and thought seeing him get ripped apart was too horrific and unpleasant. They talk about it on the DVD commentary so if you want the whole story just check it out.

reply

I'll have they check that out, because I was really confused why they skipped a death scene.

I was confused how he ended up by the river again, I think the crock ate him and Orlando Jones tasted bad so he spit him back out later.

I couldn't really get into this movie, even with low expectations. Makes me want to watch anaconda.

reply

hahaha yah. I was like why is he still there and not eaten? You would think a big croc like that would be hungry. I have afew questions about this movie:
*Where do all the villagers go? They disappear for alot of the film. Lol whats up with that?

*Towards the end they were over the water and then the croc knocks them into the water some and then in the morning they are acting like everything is fine and they are laughing. Why did the croc just go away? And so anyway they wade through the water and go on the land and stuff and damned if Orlando Jones' white and red shirt aren't perfectly clean (along with everyone elses). These people just came out of that nasty water and should be all sweaty too but they are all clean and so are their clothes.

*First time they show the croc run across the screen he looked reeeaaaaaaaaal short like a midget but real fat. Then the next time you see him he is large. (And just so you know big crocs like that can't run that fast and do the crazy gymnastic type jumping and *beep* that this croc does. haha. but it was entertaining for the laughs.

*Oh yah, where's all the mosquitos and bugs and talk of malaria and disease and caution in the water cause of diseases. This is supposed to be in Africa right? The mosquitos carry malaria and that kind of thing.
*Why was JoJo running with the gun while they were being chased? Why not try to use it. Why didn't they take the guys they had killed earlier in the movie's guns or weapons if they knew there were bad guys out there? Why didn't they kill the "bad guys" by shooting them when the guys got out of the jeep and the "good guys" were laying in the grass hiding (when Orlando somehow got shot in the chest o.O). They were hiding it would have been so easy to just shoot them then. Dumb. lol.
*Then when the croc gets hit by the car and the croc gets hurt but the car is still driveable. They change the strength of the croc a little too much.

It wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but it was dumb. My friend rented it from a dvd vending machine so it only costed a dollar to rent so we watched it. I'll say that it's alright. Not worth buying or anything, but if you are bored and someone has it and you've seen all the other movies they have then watch it and laugh.

Is it included on a deleted scene?

Well I think that the only reason they showed him dead in the croc's den was to give the audience closure. Like someone else said the audience didn't like seeing Steven get torn apart so they skipped his death scene, but thee film makers wanted to show that Steven was in fact dead so they showed him in the den.

reply

Maybe he was playing possum for the sequel.
God forbid.

reply

It explains it in the film he probably did eat orlando jones but it said if theres an abundance of food crocs spew their food back up and hunt again. im no animal expert so i dont know if this is true but thats what it says in the film gustav probably ate him in the field then went back to his den and spewed him up.

reply

Just finished watching the dvd and no it's not in the deleted scenes section. I kinda wish it was, might have made the movie better.

I wanted to see him completely devoured, so I was disappointed.

For a nice Chianti and some fava beans?

reply

I thought it would have been better to keep it more open-ended about him.

Or possibly have shown him at the end stuck in africa with no one out for irony.

Why would the croc take the cameraman back to its den, but no one else it killed?

Because he wanted to get his CRIBS episode shot!

did u watch ANYTHING in between the part where the screen goes white and the plane?
When he finds the knife and the transmitter in the swamp where the croc is in the end
he looks over and Steve is lying there (well half of him) dead, pale, and with 1 arm gone

reply

Because the croc was full and couldnt eat anymore?

Is it a female Kroc???Gustav..if so it must have infants it has a den right?...it must have drag him there so it's infants to eat him later.

reply

"Didn't the crocodile eat him in the middle of the field? Why would he drag him back to the river... he didn't do that with anyone else he ate?"

Something I remembered from National Geographic is that crocs tend to leave some rests to rot. They like it that way. The main question is why Gustav didn't do it to the rest of his breakfast/lunch/dinner. Maybe they were zombies?

reply

Well maybe if Orlando/Steven hadn't wasted time flipping the croc off he might have had more distance on it when he was running. Plus there were a lot of bones in that croc's den. Maybe it was saving Steve's torso for snacking on later.

i was one of the unfortunate ones who went to a screening i hated the movie when i first saw it and still do lol the croc wasnt finished then, i just saw it on cable and it still looked bad lol but yeah they had some people stay back and give input and almost everyone said why'd you kill him nobody liked that and still didn't like how they left it, just went to a white screen that sucked i wish he didn't die only likeable character

reply

Yeah, like everyone said, it was weird they didn't show his death but remember the Croc expert said that crocs will stuff themselves with food for days, then throw it all up so they can feed again. Thats why Tim finds Steven's body at the nest. Gustav was making room for more food.

reply

I really expect6ed him to turn up OK at the end of the movie, somehow. I figured that's why they didn't show him being eaten.

reply

he was poisoned from the thorn bushes along the river ... gustave didn't like the way he tasted

reply

yeah i thought that hollywood was going to be nice this time and let the brother live. instead of the "i dont know how i manage to stay alive"main character and his "future to be but not quite yet"love interest.

reply

I wonder why they didn't show his dead
