maybe its something to do with the odd marketing campaign and the fact that people don't really know what their gonna get with the movie, but i found this to be some top notch entertainment. Not a classic by any stretch of the imagination, but for a nights entertainment i recommend this.
Just kinda shows imdb's twisted rating system sometimes, if i went by ratings i never would have picked this up. It deserves better.
I totally agree, I completely forgot about this movie and something reminded me of it so just now I decided I would check it's rating expecting a 6.0-6.5 but wtf a 4.1???? bullsh*t this was a cool movie
shareI bought the movie for dirt cheap because the preview looked good. I then looked here and saw the low rating. I was thoroughly entertained with this movie and thought the CG was much better than people give it credit for.
shareThe 4.1 rating (it's at 4.4 now) I think is much higher than it should be. Ignoring the fact that it was mis-advertised, it was just boring and less eventful than what I expected it to be when I found out the "serial killer" was a crocodile. I gave it a 2, and I thought I was being generous.
shareThe marketing for this movie was terribly misleading and not lengthy enough. I don't know who thought it'd be good a idea to try and fool moviegoers but it definitely backfired, which is a shame because I really found this to be a very enjoyable movie once I realized it wasn't a slasher.
I also really liked that for a supposed croc movie the movie spends a large portion of time dealing with the real-life social issues in africa and Gustave is more of a subplot.
This movie deserves more than the 4.4 it has now

Yea, I gave it a generous 5. It was definitely top notch production, but saying that , you can have the greatest production value , and if the movie is terribly acted as well as a false , and misleading plot, than it really doesn't matter much. I preferred Lake Placid because it was just pure comedy, and was actually better acted with cooler crocodile scenes. It didn't take itself seriously like this stupid movie. Even though it really happened doesn't mean that 100s of other people didn't have this problem around the world with other deadly animals which pray on people as an epidemic until it is killed. It can be Lions or tigers or venomous snakes. Nothing new here. Gustav !!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME !! LMAO!
