North Pole as bright in December as . . . the South Pole?

Funny movie, but where's the December daytime darkness in Santa's home town? Every time they go outside, things are even brighter than they should be down south--all the way south! But, hey, who bothers with such trivial details when the season's supposed to be all about fantasy? I guess they're just imagining it's so bright!

It should be all Northern Lights fantasy landscape at the North Pole. They always manage to make the place look so mundane.
