best christmas movie ever!!!

Absolutely the best Christmas movie ever, my 11 year old daughter who had started questioning the the existence of Santa clause, has a new take on him now, she believes that he did exist, and his legend and spirit lives on, its a lot better than not believing in him at all, thank you to the people who made this film for keeping my daughter believing.

I agree completely. Me and my wife are waiting for our first child, and
this is probably the Santa Claus story that we will bring on to our child.

Maybe there was no person named Santa Claus, but there was Saint Nicholas who became the patron saint of children. A real person! This is what the legend of Santa is based on.

There is nothing wrong with believing in the legend of Santa Claus and, more importantly, what this figure stands for - no matter what age the child/adult.

As has been said, Santa may not have existed in the form children believe in today, but Saint Nicholas did and that's the legend and his legacy lives on.

I've seen almost all Christmas movies and this has to be the best. It was magical, yet emotive too. Finally, a movie with an authentic-looking Santa as well. I think perhaps the reason it was so well done was because it was produced in Scandanavia, rather than the Hollywood style the Americans would have drilled out.

I'm sorry for being off topic, but 11yo girl is way too old to still believe in Santa.

reply

Maybe it's not usual, maybe it's not modern to be 11 and believe in Santa. But today, when people believe they have been abducted by aliens, who believe in all those reading future from palms and cards, who believe that they must commit suicide to be reborn on a passing comet, who even believe that the soap-operas show real events and characters, is it so wrong, dangerous or harmful to believe in Santa?

reply

nothing is harmfull in believing in Santa. People do believe in God too ?
Myselve I don't make any difference between believing in Santa or Yahwe, Allah, Rama, etc...

reply

Just one correction and your statement will be correct. Not "people" but rather "idiots".

reply

Well, some people believe in god ALL their life. There's some REAL delusion for you there.

Amen, mamasan41! No one really expects people to believe in the legend (and all it's added commercializations). That being said, the spirit BEHIND the legend of Santa Clause is what's important - the spirit of giving without expecting or wishing for something in return. I doubt that anyone over a very young age believes in Santa Clause as depicted in movies and animation, but hopefully, there are those of use that still enjoy the symbolism and spirit behind the legend. Cynicism and skepticism can be useful BS detectors, but try not to squeeze every drop if joy and fun from life. Who does it hurt?

I'm 52 and I believe.

All I can say is: every year I get up Christmas morning to find a present for me signed "from Santa". My wife gets one too. And so did our children...as long as they believed.
