Broken English reminded me of another movie

Hi, I watched this on HDNET channel and for the first half hour I was thinking why does this plot remind me of another movie? And before anyone can say the Sunrise movies Before and After, actually, my mind clicked and said Bridget Jones's Diary!

I mean think about it, very unhappy single young woman very unhappy because she's been single for so long, there are no decent guys available anymore, when she dates they are no good men, Nora herself has problems like excessive drinking and extreme low self-confidence, just like Bridget Jones. So Broken English is much like BJD, only much more melancholy in tone.

And did anyone catch how Nora's friend's husband said that Nora's problem is she seems desperate, she doesn't play hard to get, which would make a guy more interested in her and when Nora meets Julian, she's not interested in him at all, and Julian *becomes* interested in her and works very hard then to gain her attention?

I did notice the whole "playing hard to get thing" when she meets him and at first I wondered if she was doing it on purpose after the comment from the husband. But then I started to think she geniunely was not interested. Glad it worked for her though! The story was adorable and very comical. Parker Posey was so great in her performance. A very similar situation happened to me about 4 months ago.. where I met a beautiful European man and then I had to leave after spending only 4 days with him. He even left me his number and everything... just hope I never lose it *knocks on wood*

Yeah, she definitely wasn't into Julian at first sight. Come to think of it, she wasn't interested in him for awhile during those few days together.

Do I have to mention spoilers warning here?

She felt a little bit more for him when she heard his girlfriend dumped him for an actor she was working with in a movie.

I think she started to open herself emotionally to him when she sees finally he's really interested in her.

Nice movie, but not as nice as the Sunrise movies. Great Parker Posey performance as you said.

As for gorgeous European man, put his number in your cell/contact list/computer or all three. Do you plan to call him?

That reminded me of when I was in high school and met a beautiful young tennis player from South Africa of all places. He was so beautiful and supernice, too.

Oh, the Sunrise/Sunset movies are just amazing!

As for the gorgeous European man, I do plan to call him next time I am in Europe. In fact, I plan on spending four months in Paris next year for school so I better put that number in a safer place other than the back pocket of my moleskine journal, haha.

first of we dont know if it worked out.
secondly you'r both females on this thread, so that's wierd.
therdly she didnt respond to julian because she felt for couple first dayes he just wants to bang her like the rest, what he actualy did, he just done it slower. in the bath he said we having fun (when she pondered whats the point of all this again), fun means it's just a fling.

she was actualy tired of life for some time.

i'm a guy but when i put my self in her shoes it feels sucky, when you'r tired you dont wanna have pointless fun (fling).

n wus up with ur fantasy europien guy, whats the point of you calling him ?
what did he wanet from you in 4 days ? what do you want from him now ?

because if u want just to bang him, dont relate your self to this movie.

the major problem is lack of communcation.
solution: write on your shirt what are you intentions, like:
im an open vally 24/7, or "visit my hootersville", or "im past flings now wanna marry" or "things to do 1] bang as much as possible & cross it 2] star a family 3] die peacfuly" stuff like that.

it's a pity i wont stay to see the world crumble, u jedi Scum !
