Lighting was ABOMINABLE

i really liked this film. despite the obvious small issues ("i cant find him, i lost the paper" in this age of technology is just sooooo lame) i thought it was strong. parker posey is always great, and the rest of the cast was strong. but holy jesus, what with with the lighting? it almost seemed like punishment against such beautiful people! i know it was indie, but if you can make parker and drea BOTH look awful in full makeup and lovely clothes, then something is seriously wrong. hire a LD who knows whats up!

and....on a weird note, did anyone else notice that parkers purse at glenns party is safety pinned at the strap? such a good detail for an "unravelling woman".

"Eddie, come with me...It will be WONDERFUL...in the afterlife, you dont have to look for work!"

haha, i noticed the safety pin too! i also liked how the straps of her shoes were never fully secured around her ankles.

yeah, about half way through the movie, i found myself asking, why do these people look so rough??? your're right, the lighting was harsh.

reply

Isn't that intentional though??? I mean parker isn't exactly a happy flower in the film. She self-medicates and smokes...plus she is in her late 30's she is suppose to have a rough loook (imo)

we don't belive in credibility because we are incredible.

I have to disagree about the lighting. In the scene where Julien is leaving Nora to go to the airport and she's lying on the bed looking at him, it is an absolutely beautiful shot. She looked like a painting.

It was probably a really small budget.
