Two Questions

1. Is Nora an alcoholic? She seems to drink a lot.

2. What is that drink Nora and the actor are drinking at the Japanese restaurant? I originall thought it was sake, but isn't sake served warm? It could have been water, but she seem tipsy towards the end of dinner. (I obviously don't know much about alcohol. LOL)

reply

1. I don't think she's an alcoholic, except in that bed scene where she was happily drowning her sorrows.

2. Sake can be served both cold and warm, you have to ask the waiter. So it was either cold sake or mildly warm sake, which barely gives off any steam, or vodka.

reply

I think she has a bit of a drinking problem.

There is a big difference between enjoying alcohol, even somewhat frequently, and being addicted to it (alcoholic). I saw the former in this film, not the latter.
However, what I disliked was nearly everyone smoking like chimneys. Gross. I was glad I did not have to smell it. And FWIW, everyone who smokes like that is indeed a nicotine addict, and that is, from most accounts, one of the toughest addictions to break away from.
