***WOW***
The August Underground movies have their share of dumb/silly parts, but they're damn masterpieces next to this joke. The DVD synopsis text compares this 'film' with Irreversible... well, it seems Shane Ryan doesn't have one tenth of Gaspar Noe's film-making ability; and I'm sure Paul Schrader is pissed having his name indirectly associated with this.
A.P.S.K.'s use of generic, unconvincing digital filters to 'create the illusion' [ Hahaha ] of damaged video footage goes down as the most pathetic visual effect i have *EVER* seen [ One of a few 'artistic touches' the director attempted... the others consist of a lame radio-friendly soundtrack, and pointless amateur porn footage randomly fading in and out ]. The movie's 'climax' is a lame off-screen fist beating, altered twice by first being slowed down and then being sped up. In other words, the director didn't even have the balls to let the audience experience the victim's death.
If fuzzy POV blow-jobs, boring amateur porn footage and obvious digital video trying to be something else is the future of extreme cinema, then leave me back in the '70s, when this stuff was truly vicious [ Addio Zio Tom, Salo: 120 Days Of Sodom, Cannibal Holocaust, I Spit On Your Grave, etc. ]. A.P.S.K.'s lack of passion, emotion and simple technique is intolerable. This 'movie' doesn't shock or offend - it only inspires embarrassment. I'm never watching anything that has the name Shane Ryan attached to it again.
