"Stephen McPherson, president of ABC Entertainment, told SCI FI Wire that he thought the anthology SF series Masters of Science Fiction series was "very uneven" and "it's been a little bit problematic."

"There has been some controversy surrounding Masters of Science Fiction, which begins airing at least 4 episodes on Saturday, August 4th at 9PM CST on ABC. ...
The controversy began when the creative forces behind these shorts were given free rein and some of them took it literally. One particular director’s, Takashi Miike’s, work was thought to have gone a little too far and was pulled. It will be released on DVD."

Not bad news at all. McPherson has to see the series for $$$ making potential in the ratings. When you don't have recurring characters to hook viewers into watching week afer week, MOSF doesn't look very appealing. A couple of newspaper TV critics who've seen all 6 episodes posted a month ago that the series is one of the best SF series they've seen and criticized ABC for letting the series collect dust on the shelf instead of giving it a realistic shot at finding an audience during midseason. I'll reserve judgement until more critics weigh in. If it's good, I hope for a pickup by a cable network.

That second article you reference, sounds like it's mixing up episodes of "Masters of Horror" with "Masters of Science Fiction." Only six episodes were filmed with MOSF directors: Harold Becker, Jonathan Frakes, Damell Martin, Michael Petroni, Mark Rydell, and Michael Tolkin. See the MOSF website at http://www.mastersofscifi.com/site. There's no Takashi Miike.

good catch. i missed that.

hopefully they will air the other episodes, but from everything i can find i don't think they plan to. and if they won't maybe showtime or someone else will pick it up.

That's unfortunate.

One of the reasons the show was cancelled and the last two episodes were removed from the schedule was because ABC thought it was too political, They hated Little Brother and thought it was anti-cop and they also hated Watchbird because of it's criticism of the military industrial complex. If this show aired today it would've never gotten cancelled.
