This film confirms that Paolo Sorrentino in this moment is one of the rare Italian contemporary directors with a personal style. Sorrentino makes love with the camera, He moves the picture. The picture is in his hands. The movie has a mood. Now It's not so frequent in Italian cinema. Probably the script is unperfect but the picture, the figures...The set. The amazing set with fascist architecture, the signs of moral and ethical decadences. Good Sorrentino, good. And we can't forget to people: Pay attention to the music...Stunning choices.

this is my first sorrentino film, but i was amazed most by the stylistic editing.

Yes I agree....!!

I have discovered Sorrentino very recently (IL DIVO), and in this last month I have watched one by one all your films..... and.... HE IS REALLY GREAT...!!!

I discovered Paolo Sorrentino through The Great Beauty. Later I saw The Consequences of Love. And now The Family Friend. He is surely one of the greatest Italian directors right now. Whether he is the greatest is difficult to say, because there is also Giuseppe Tornatore, Matteo Garrone, and probably others (I'm talking about the relatively new ones). Italian cinema seems to have somewhat of a renaissance right now.
