OMFG! WHYYYYY!!!!!!!?!?!?!?

Ok... I watched this show when it was on live, but somewhere along the way when they were trying to kill it and moved it to Fridays I missed some. I just got the season on Netflix and just finished. OMFG! Why did this show get cancelled?!?!?! One of the best shows I have ever seen! The acting was great, the story, albeit a little drawn out, was still amazing.

Spoiler!
They freaking left the end a cliff hanger!!!! How dare they! I wanna know what happens! I wanna know if Knapp ever finds that other girl and how Anthony Rapp got out of freakin' jail and what he's up to! WTH!!!
:Spoiler over

Ok... so someone please explain why this show was canceled! And hey... I think they need to do another season or make a movie or something! I can't stand this! I cliff hanger on a SERIES ender!!!! WTF!!!!

My guess is for the same reason there are virtually no posts to the bulletin board, no goofs submitted, etc. You were one of very few people watching it. Personally I never knew it existed until Netflix recommended it to me.

I KNOW!!!!!! NBC SUCKS SO BAD, They did the same thing to JOURNEYMAN, another brilliantly acted, written and produced series. NBC cancels the BEST shows!!!

How? Why? would it even be possible to conclude anymore...??

Someone should somehow start a campaign against NBC, who also canceled Conan, which made a lot of people PISSED OFF!!

but really, how frustrating to not have a conclusion to a brilliant series...The issue was NBC never does any kind of promotion...I wish HBO or SHotime would have taken any of those shows, that would have been a good move!

NBC has a habit of cancelling good shows simply because the ratings aren't expected fast enough. They're not known for giving a show time to build up a community of watchers. Shows that could have been great: Life, Kings, The Philanthropist,....even Scrubs didn't get the respect it deserved from the network. They finally moved over to ABC.

I didn't even realize it was suppose to have a second season. I thought it was a mini series like Kill Point. Sure, you don't want the ride to end, but at some point the stories will run out, repeat themselves, or become absolutely ridiculous. I think one season was sufficient.

If the Flintstones have taught us anything, it's that pelicans can be used to mix cement.

"I didn't even realize it was suppose to have a second season." The end scenes of "The Gold Lighter Guy" telephoning Knapp in the last episode of what sadly turned out to be the only season leaves no question that at least one more season was planned. NBC is gutless -- if a show doesn't show astronomical Nielsen numbers after the first week, they dump it.

This is gone and then all of a sudden, Heroes, They need to just stop bringing out new shows if they are not going to keep them on all the good shows are gone.

reply

I was the same. I watched it when it first aired, then I started watching it again on Netflix. I cant believe they left that HUGE cliffhanger!!
I really want a second season so we can see if Knapp finds that little girl. They just cant leave it with.. "lets make it a game.. Want to join" or whatever. I really think they should make a second season.
Make it Knapps show where he finds kids or something. I loved this show, and still do.

"Make it Knapps show where he finds kids or something."
Haha. That made me laugh. But I agree with you. Great show. Needs a second season.

You are absolutely right, this show was awesome. I stumbled across it on Netflix and got sucked into it. I thought the plot was great and the characters were excellent. In response to your cliff hanger comment, I think the end of the last episode was being set-up for season two. When they filmed and produced the final episode, I doubt they knew that they were being cancelled. What a great loss. It kills me how some horrible shows remain on the air, while others bite the dust.

P.S. I fell in love with Jeremy Sisto from this show. He did an amazing job. I would have loved to see more chemistry between him and Turner in season two.

reply

I don't remember it airing I just bought the dvd this year on a whim based on the description and the cast.

I imagine it was supposed to continue with Sisto and the second season would've either involved the little girl or another kidnapping while keeping the little girl sub-plot.

It might've been a hard-sell to people as a series on the premise "each season a different person is kidnapped"!

I didn't feel we left it on too much of a cliffhanger because I never felt they got me too involved with the older case. Could be worse. In 1979 they cancelled a chow called "Cliffhangers", leaving all three serials unfinished! "SOAP" was cancelled leaving all the characters in life or death cliffhanging suspense. Feh!
