I recall watching the pilot and at least one other episode of this show when it was on TV. I gave up on it then. Can't remember why, but it just did not grab me at the time.

I saw it pop up on Netflix recently. I was surprised at the high rating on Netflix and overwhelmingly positive reviews, so I thought I give it a chance. I mean at 13 episodes I can treat it like a little mini-series. From what I read, the creators tried to wrap up story in 13 episodes after it was canceled.

I'm 7 episodes in and I see why I gave up on it. This show had a lot of flaws. Several things stood out to me almost from the beginning. First, I don't buy into the Sisto character at all, especially when the FBI steps in. Has nothing to do with Sisto himself, but this whole renegade ex-agent dude just did not work for me. Just doesn't seem realistic and does not mesh with the large FBI presence. Lucien just seems kinda "there". He does some ok things now and then, but I can't buy into someone having that much power outside official channels. And I certainly don't buy into the mother and father investing so much faith in someone who can't get their soon back in the normal timeframe.

Secondly, I though the family just did not act as I would expect initially. Maybe that's telling something...I don't know yet. There were some emotional moments later certainly, but the initial reaction was very muted.

The show is not bad...not saying that. The acting is fine across the board. However, the above mentioned points and quite a few plots holes really take me out of it. I find myself rolling my eyes now and then.

I'm going to keep watching it. The pacing is not that bad and I've already invested in 7 episodes. Maybe the show will tie up nicely and some of the things that bother me will make sense later.

I'm just surprised how many folks rave about the show. Granted 7.2 is not exactly screaming masterpiece. Certain great shows were canceled before their time, but some "OK" canceled shows seem to get high marks I think it part to the mystique of early cancellation.

Regardless of how good it might get as it progresses...not sure yet...I think the creators/writers made big mistakes with the pilot and early episodes. Sisto's character would probably work better as an FBI agent, scrapping this whole consultant or PI or whatever he is.

Did you ever finish watching the series an if so, what was you final verdict? I don't know what your Beef is with Knapp but I liked his character a lot. Personally I think he meshed very well with the series and did not see any of the so called problems you were talking about but never actually told us what they were. How about giving us a couple examples of some of those plot holes you were talking about? Maybe you need to look at it in this light - Maybe your opinion of the show is not accurate as the majority who watch it don't agree with you!
