I absolutely agree with the conclusion. Along with admitting what she did was wrong, the mother also boastfully says she'd do it again if given the opportunity. Their actions led to a huge blood trail which left several innocent people dead, including law enforcement. The only punishment they faced was being called animals.
Maybe I missed something, but my take on what Ellie did to get the heart was to buy Leopold's way (past the Archer boy) to the head of the line for it. If I'm right, that was totally despicable, but technically it wasn't murder.

i just finished watching this on netflix and honestly it really pissed me off and kind of ruined the show. no comeuppance at all? pffft. maybe they planned on doing something with it if there was a second seasons?
