2 Kill or not 2 Kill, is NOT the question

He killed Zod because there was no other way to save us against this threat. And he has done this many times before.

In the movie universe Superman not only killed Zod before, he also allowed Ursa and Non to die in Superman II.

And in Superman IV he killed “Nuclear Man I” (cut scenes, though perhaps the kill was a mistake) and I assume “Nuclear Man II” too (unclear if he just doomed him to be forever imprisoned in the reactor, as cruel as this might be, or if he killed him).

Plus one might argue that he sort of killed himself in “Superman III”.

Anyway, in MOS he shows remorse, something Chris never did... unless a smug smile counts after dooming a defenseless Zod to be crushed in the debts of his fortress. Thing is, he had already won over Zod, Ursa and Non and yet he finished them off anyway. what a SOB? Hey, I love the original movie too - just want to point to the fact that him using deadly force is not a MOS thing.

In the comics’ universe, there are more examples than this forum permits to list... although I can mention how he kills (at first) Doomsday, a similar fight and situation if comparing to his fight with Zod in MOS. And I won't mention when he passed judgment and killed about 6 billion in the Phantom zone, no need to get too technical.

Either case, this argument against MOS is stale. However, if one likes it or not, it is obviously up to the individual. I like that he killed Zod in this situation. I like that he showed pain and remorse when he did it. I understand him better because of this.

Cheers

I agree. Unlike this movie he kills Zod and his lackeys in Superman 2 and is like this.

Who ever said Zod, Ursa, and Non died in Superman 2?

Being turned human and throwing them off a cliff!? You really think anyone could survive that!?
