Janet who? From my understanding Mariah Carey was the first choice (at least publicly).

Janet WHO? Surely you jest, lol! Janet Jackson. She was Lee Daniel's original choice for the role of Krystal, but she had to back out due to scheduling conflicts with her album. That's when Mariah got the part.

I think Mariah Carey did really well. And without her, there would be no "Right to Dream." Janet wouldn't have done as well
