Did I miss something regarding Emily?

What was her connection/interest to Dial. As soon as she saw him walking towards the building, she was all over him. Almost like she knew him. But it seemed to be a little girl, for some odd reason, wanting to help a guy who was wanted for shooting the chief of police. She didn't seem fazed by that? No motive?
