Anytime, anywhere in Australia?

When is it coming to Australia? if anyone knows please let me know :P

reply

Even if it comes to Australia, it will probably only be shown in art house cinemas which usually have small screens. I've never been in any that had a big screen.

true! that's pretty sad :(

You are entitled to your opinion, but just naming The Dark Knight Rises a cgi b-movie doesn't speak for yourself. TDKR is anything but a b-movie, it comes from a director with a vision, who is notorious for his conservative approach to film-making and cgi. And who managed to keep the his vision while going from indie to big budget. Watch Following or Memento, his ideas/obsessions are already there, burgeoning.

I love the Reggio and Fricke films altogether, I've seen the Qatsi trilogy and Baraka in theaters and I will have a chance to watch Samsara on big screen as well. But let's face it, there is just not enough audience for this kind of movies in big theaters on a regular basis. The very same reason there are multiplexes and art houses.

Please enjoy indie movies but dont' ditch the main screen industry, one cannot exist without the other.

FACTS: People went (are still going) to see it en masse (and the majority of critics praised it btw).

You're still not explaining why it does make TDKR a schlock.

Yeah TDKR is at least a B+ movie! ;)

So where can I see Samsara in Oz?

Just caught the Original QATSI flick's @ The Arts Centre in Melbourne with the Phillip Glass ensemble providing the live soundtrack.

It was un-f@cking believable. Incredibly emotive stuff and the live soundtrack by Glass & Co was as impactful as the first time I experienced Koyaanisqatsi on it's own. It was overwhelming at times.

Yeah... That's how mainstream works. That's how it's always worked.
And the Batman movies are not B-movies. You obviously have no clue what 'B-movie' really means.

It doesn't matter what it means to you. You can't just start making up your own definitions. So you don't like The Dark Knight, fine (I don't think they're that great either). There is simply nothing B-movie about it. And even for an A-movie, its budget is still really high (around the 185 mil).

It's got nothing to do with quality.

Your own made-up definitions don't change anything. It's as simple as that.

So now you're going to keep on making pointless comments just so you get the last word, even though you know you lost the argument. Typical troll.

I emailed Hopscotch and they've told me it's getting a Boxing Day release in Australia!! No word on where it will be showing yet though.

What are they doing over there? They're filming something. They're filming midgets!

reply

Will be shown at Melbourne Australia's Astor Theatre in February 2013 in 4K on a 60 foot screen, 1,100 seat auditorium, 16,000 watt sound system.

reply

It will be shown at the Cremorne Orpheum in Sydney from Boxing Day. No mention of a 70mm print even though this cinema is equipped with a 70mm projector.

They have a 70mm print of The Master starting 8 Nov 2012.
