Echigeki Vs Last For One Decision

Hey guys just a personal thought.

I rewatched the final battle Echigeki Vs Last for One in its entirety unedited.
Now the actual battle between both talented crews lasted for 20 minutes.

In my opinion going by the judge’s criteria Japan's "Echigeki" won this battle.
Don’t get me wrong i still thought it was an extremely close battle.

But i felt that the Japanese b-boys brought more to the table in respects to the art form.

A Line taken direct from this movie is from B-boy "Quick" stating that the Koreans are amazing but their dance doesn’t touch his heart. I do in some regards completely agree.

Last for one brought out more acrobatic power moves whilst keeping good rhythmic uprocks & Clean executions.

While Echigeki had more unique individual talent within their crew I also think their "team commandos"/team crew attacks were stronger, more original & energetic than the Koreans.

The Koreans also overtook their stage routines at moments noticeably taking more time to wrap up their routines. If i was a judge i would have marked this down as they did this more than once.

I felt the Japanese dominated the first 15 minutes of the battle then began to lose stamina the last 5 minutes of the battle which is noticeable however i am strictly looking at this battle in its entirety many times over to confirm.

But that’s only from what i see either way they both put on a great show and fought a great battle.

You see the problem with Ichigeki is while they are unique that is their biggest weakness and their greatest strength.

Ichigeki moves are extremely sloppy and not on point. Last for one brought everything in that battle style, footwork, routines, top rocks, beat hitting, blow ups and power. And Korea was mostly know at the time for only powermoves last for one showed everyone at the event that korea is not only about that and when Quick said that comment he was refering to Gamblerz not Last for One.

Ichigeki took their style and originality and blew it up to much that it took over their basic moves and made them look worse then they actually are. Watch Ichigeki from 2002 to 2004 there you will see they where alot better because they had their originality but could still execute the basic moves properly so they didn't look sloppy.

Also if you wanna really see what originality in b-boying done right looks like look up Morning of Owl from south korea, heavily inspired by Ichigeki they can execute all moves properly but still have this amazing originality to them.

I agree with everything except the part you said:

Korea was mostly know at the time for only powermoves

Thats very untrue. Korea was known for power for about 3-4 years from 2000-2004. It was in 2004 and later that the world relized Korean's Style-heads/Foundation bboys and All-'round bboys by the time 2005-2006 came around bboys like Coma, Zesty, Style-M, TinoRoc, Noodle, Redfoot, Beast, and many others have already been well established and recognized. However there was bboys like Differ, Hong10, Ducky, and Born who have doing their thing as all around bboys in the early 2k decade. even though at the time Born was heavy with the powermoves, he later became a strong foundation bboy as we all know now.

Basically Korea was known for power only cause they have crazy power which overshadowed everthing else they had to show. They almost always had other styles since the late 90s early 2k when American bboys (like Abstrak, Crumbs, Cloud and others) went to korea to train and to teach.

Korea is still known for power, blowups, and lacking musicality/creativity which isn't inaccurate. You claim that 2005-2006 showcased Korea's "style heads" but at that time crews like Gamblerz, Extreme Crew, etc. and bboys like Physix and The End were still dominating the scene there. Korea's breaking image has changed slightly since then but the major crews over there are still more focused on power and routines than they are creativity and individual dancing ability and their reputation reflects that.
